In 1902, he was admitted to the Zhejiang Provincial Higher School, and was also blacklisted because of the student tide, so he simply changed his name to Menglin.
In February 1909, he went to the United States to stay, and after receiving his doctorate from Columbia University, he returned to China to help Sun Yat-sen formulate an industrial plan. His original match was originally Sun Yushu, and after the two of them got married, they also lived a period of respect and courtesy, and gave birth to three sons and a daughter. He and Gao Renshan are friends with Mo Rebellion, and the relationship between the two people is very good. Gao Renshan also studied at Columbia University in the United States, and it was at that time that he met Jiang Menglin. In 1928, Gao Renshan offended Zhang Zuolin for political affairs, and the warlords were killed at the Tianqiao Execution Ground. After Gao Renshan was killed, Jiang Menglin did something that surprised everyone, first taking Gao Renshan's widow Tao Zenggu over as his secretary.
The secretary became a lover for a long time, and the two people fell in love, which is called a strong love and honey. So Jiang Menglin said that he wanted to marry Tao Zenggu, and he also praised him for fulfilling his duty as a friend, and he didn't know how Gao Renshan felt when he knew it? Jiang Menglin's original partner, Sun Yushu, was in his hometown with a child at the time, and Jiang Menglin directly filed a divorce with Sun Yushu regardless of the child. At the wedding, Jiang Menglin pulled Tao Zenggu to a sweet word, the two should be disgusted to many people at that time, and Jiang Menglin said: "I love Brother Renshan, and I also love what he loves, so I married Tao Zenggu as a wife." This sentence also became a big joke in the intellectual circles at that time.
After Tao Zenggu married him, the two were sweet for a while, but Tao Zenggu was a person who was lacking in behavior, which could be seen from the fact that she coaxed Jiang Menglin to marry her. In 1944, Jiang Menglin planned to revive Peking University after the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and continue to serve as its former president, and many people began to oppose it. The reason is not only that he holds two positions at the same time, because among the opponents are some of his friends and some well-known professors, the reason is that his wife, Tao Zenggu, cannot talk to many people.
Jiang Menglin did not do anything deviant in his marriage to Tao Zenggu, and after Tao Zenggu's death, Jiang Menglin was reluctant to remarry for two years.
