After Puyi was cremated, the ashes were placed in the Babaoshan Cemetery and later moved to the Hualong Royal Cemetery. On June 9, 1997, Li Shuxian died of illness at the age of 72. After her death, she was not buried with her husband Puyi, but chose to be buried alone in the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery.
