However, this is the northern gate of Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, and its strategic position is very important, so the Kuomintang reactionaries have always been eyeing this place in an attempt to seize Yucheng.
Before the outbreak of a full-scale civil war, the enemy surrounded Yucheng with regular troops on the one hand, and on the other hand, he organized landlords to return to their hometowns, bandits, and secret agents to infiltrate and sabotage the base areas, assassinate party members and cadres and basic masses in the base areas, and obstruct and sabotage the land reform work. The enemy special forces used Jinan and Yancheng and other places as bases, and after training as spies, they secretly and scatteredly infiltrated the Yucheng area. It poses a great threat to us.
Beginning in April 1946, the local leading organs of our party, government, and army in Yucheng and the pilot areas of land reform were attacked one after another, making it completely impossible to carry out work in some areas. In order to resolutely counterattack the enemy's infiltration and sabotage, the county party committee decided to establish a rapid-reacting armed engineering team, and finally drew 16 shrewd and capable scouts from the troops and the public security bureau to form a military engineering team, each equipped with 1 long and short gun and 1 bicycle. This maneuverable squad soon showed its strength.
In the early summer of 1946, after the outbreak of a full-scale civil war, the situation in the base areas became even more critical. One day, when the newly established armed workers came to a place and was preparing to eat dinner, suddenly a crowd came to report that there were armed enemy elements in a village 10 kilometers away. So the armed workers team immediately rode straight to the village, but when everyone arrived in a furious manner, they found that the enemy had withdrawn one step ahead of me, and the armed workers who had pounced on the air immediately laid an ambush in the local area, hidden and waited, and sent scouts to collect the situation.
Two days later, in the early morning, a crowd reported to the armed workers that the enemy had arrived at nearby Mazhuang in the middle of the night and was still sleeping. Without further ado, the armed workers immediately set off, and since Mazhuang was only 1 kilometer away from the station of the armed workers, the armed workers quickly came to the outside of the village, using the cover of the high-pole crops in the field, and slowly approached the mouth of the village.
The captain then asked everyone to ambush in the green yarn tent and go reconnaissance with another team member. They found the enemy sentry under a tree at the entrance of the village, this sentry was snoozing, and then 2 people pounced on it to capture him, dragged into the green yarn tent for interrogation, and the enemy sentry quickly gave an account of the situation in the village, including how many people had guns.
The armed workers then stormed the village, surrounded the enemy's quarters, and handed over his gun before the gatekeeper could react. At this time, the enemy in the house was still sleeping, and with the order of "surrender the gun and not kill", more than 10 enemies were forced by long and short guns to raise their hands and become prisoners naked. Without spending a single shot, the armed engineering team captured 13 enemy people, captured 13 long and short guns, and won the first battle. In the subsequent interrogation, these enemy special agents confessed the situation, before they set out, they already knew that the base area had formed a military engineering team to deal with them, so they were particularly careful, in order to prevent staying in one place for too long and being swept away by our army, they dug up their minds and frequently changed the location of camp and foothold, at most one night, there were 3 places, all the bandits were tired, this is also the armed forces team in the assault on Mazhuang, including the sentry, the enemy is asleep, but this is it, The enemy was not able to escape the pursuit of the armed forces in the end.
