On the afternoon of September 16 of that year, an unexpected car accident threw him up in the back seat of the car on the spot, hit the back of the chair in front of him, knocked out his dentures, and slightly fractured Song Meiling next to him.
Chiang Kai-shek was not in serious trouble at that time, but the internal injuries caused were immeasurable. Two or three months later, Chiang Kai-shek's heart was detected with a murmur, and the aortic valve was injured in a car accident.
Since then, symptoms of cardiac hypertrophy have been accompanied by Chiang Kai-shek's last days.

In 1972, when Chiang Kai-shek was 85 years old, he moved into the newly built Zhongxing Hotel in Yangmingshan, which was quiet and pleasant, and much like his hometown of Fenghua, which was Chiang Kai-shek's favorite place in Taiwan.
On July 22, when Chiang Kai-shek was walking, he suddenly felt out of breath, and the medical staff immediately sent him to the sixth ward of the Veterans General Hospital for rescue, and found that his heart had expanded again. At this time, Chiang Kai-shek fell into a coma, and the doctor found that he was nearly 1.70 meters tall and weighed only 46 kilograms.
Taiwan's most famous doctors and nursing staff formed a medical team, 24-hour nursing treatment, dedicated sixth ward, and moved the most advanced medical equipment on the island. A doctor hired by the United States to treat Chiang Kai-shek said, "Probably only Taiwan in the world will invest an immeasurable amount of medical resources on an old man."

Under the full treatment of the hospital, Chiang Kai-shek hovered between coma and wakefulness, intermittently for 1 year.
People have not seen the old Chiang Kai-shek appear for a long time, and it is rumored that Chiang Kai-shek is already critically ill and will soon die.
On July 23, 1973, Chiang Kai-shek's third grandson, Chiang Hyo-yong, was newly married, and Chiang Kai-shek could not attend. But Soong Mei Ling had an idea, she asked her to arrange the sixth ward and hold a tea ceremony here according to the customs of Chiang Kai-shek's hometown on the mainland. By the way, in response to rumors from the outside world that Jiang Gong was critically ill.
On this day, Chiang Kai-shek's spirit was really good, although he could not speak, but when he heard that the little grandson held a wedding, he also showed a smile that had not been seen for a long time.

With everyone's help, Chiang Kai-shek also changed into a brand new robe and horse coat, and with everyone's support, carefully sat on the Taishi chair. From the hospital bed to the chair, just a few steps away, Chiang Kai-shek moved over and was already breathless and sweaty.

Due to years of infusions and injections, Chiang Kai-shek's right arm muscles have been severely atrophied and cannot be controlled. After he sat down, his right hand always fell naturally from the armrest uncontrollably, and in order not to make the photo look awkward, Song Meiling asked the nursing staff to gently tie her right hand to the armrest with tape.
