However, as far as the women of that era are concerned, Wanrong is undoubtedly lucky, her life starting point is much higher than ordinary people, she can not only enjoy the glory and wealth, but also live a stable life, this alone, is already the luxury of the people. In 1924, Wanrong's life suffered a great change, Feng Yuxiang's counterattack, resulting in Puyi and other Manchu Qing nobles being expelled from the Forbidden City, and the luxurious life of the past was no longer returned.
However, just as the so-called "Sai Weng lost his horse, he knew that it was not a blessing", for Wanrong, it was also excellent to change her lifestyle, so that she did not have to be bound by rules and regulations. After moving to Tianjin, Wanrong permed a curly hair, she took off her palace clothes, changed into a cheongsam and high heels, and became a fashionable "modern girl". In order to relieve depression, Wanrong will go to the department store almost every day to shop, she never cares how much it costs, anyway, Puyi pays. Moreover, this is also one of the means by which she competes with Wen Xiu for favor, after all, in Puyi's heart, Wen Xiu is also very weighty.
In 1931, Wen Xiu lost the battle with Wanrong, and at the same time, Puyi's weakness and "incompetence" also deeply stimulated her. Therefore, Wen Xiu launched the "Daofei Revolution" until all relations with Puyi were severed. In Puyi's view, Wen Xiu's behavior is undoubtedly an "insult", he blames all the sins on Wanrong, not only coldly speaking to her, but also beating her into the "cold palace". However, the good times did not last long, and in January of the following year, he was tricked by the Japanese into traveling to Lushun and was monitored in every move. WanRong understood that both Puyi and she had become "puppets" of the Japanese, and if they continued like this, they would only die in the future. Therefore, Wanrong repeatedly looked for escape opportunities, and she had already made up her mind that as long as she could escape, she would definitely take Puyi with her.
From this point of view, Wanrong is still a woman with feelings and righteousness, but in the face of reality, her beautiful fantasies are soon shattered. On March 1, 1934, Wanrong was crowned Empress of the Manchurian Empire, at that time she was already loveless, spending all day smoking opium, her appearance became increasingly haggard, and soon lost her former glory. Later, Wanrong had an affair with two bodyguards around Puyi, Li Tiyu and Qi Jizhong, and gave birth to a daughter.
Unfortunately, this child was thrown into the boiler by Puyi, and the angry puyi beat Wanrong into the cold palace and never saw each other again. As a result, Wanrong quickly became a psychopath under the double torture of opium and the loss of her daughter, and later with the defeat of Japan, she was also imprisoned in Yanji on her way to escape. In 1946, wanrong died in prison at the age of 40, and her body was swept up in an old kang mat and finally thrown into a stinky ditch. Ironically, Wanrong has been holding a smoking gun tightly in her hand, perhaps in her opinion, this is the only sustenance in her life.
