Guo Xunqi was ordered to "pursue and suppress" the Red Army, and Liu Xiang instructed: To give the Red Army a way to live is to give yourself a way to live!

History has its own life, it is like a person, both easy-going and self-respecting. ——Yu Qiuyu

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Sichuan was one of the regions with the largest number of people and the most tragic sacrifices in China, and there was a brave army here. Under the leadership of Liu Xiang, this team was very united, determined to resist the war, and made great contributions to the victory of the war.

Guo Xunqi was ordered to "pursue and suppress" the Red Army, and Liu Xiang instructed: To give the Red Army a way to live is to give yourself a way to live!

Liu Xiang, born in 1888, is a native of Chengdu, Sichuan. When he was young, he attended a private school, and later entered the Sichuan Wubei Academy. In 1908, he was promoted to the Sichuan Army Accelerated School, and after graduating in 1909, he served in the Thirty-Three Mixed Formation Association of the New Army. In 1911, he was transferred to the front platoon commander of the 68th Biao 1st Battalion in the 17th Town, and the Comrade Army of Yabao Road in Caiyu Town, and was promoted to battalion commander in 1912, and was promoted to the commander of the 3rd Regiment of the 1st Division in 1913 for his meritorious service in battle.

In the ensuing Battle of Yuan, he was promoted again and became the brigade commander of the 1st Brigade. Subsequently, in one battle and struggle after another, Liu Xiang gradually gained a foothold in the Sichuan Army, excluding dissidents, and on July 2, 1921, he was officially appointed as the commander-in-chief of the Sichuan Army and the governor of Sichuan Province, becoming the "King of Sichuan" of the Sichuan Army.

Old Jiang had always been uneasy about the Brave and Warlike Sichuan Army, and had repeatedly wanted to get rid of this threat. So he thought of a plan, sending the Sichuan army to fight against the Red Army troops preparing for the Long March, this move is really beautiful, killing two birds with one stone.

Guo Xunqi was ordered to "pursue and suppress" the Red Army, and Liu Xiang instructed: To give the Red Army a way to live is to give yourself a way to live!

In January 1935, he asked Liu Xiang to send elite troops to assist in the "encirclement and suppression". However, Liu Xiang had already seen his intentions, and on the surface there was no objection, sending Guo Xunqi to lead three brigades. However, before leaving, he found Guo Xunqi to close the door and analyze the situation in detail with him: Old Jiang had always been dissatisfied with the Sichuan Army, but the Red Army was now more difficult, and once the Red Army was defeated, Old Jiang would definitely deal with Liu Xiang with empty hands. To leave a way for the Red Army to live is to give itself a way to live.

At this point, Guo Xunqi also agreed very much, saying that he would passively face the battle, only containment, and would not fight hard to block. So after he set off, Old Jiang urged him many times, and he always ignored it, and he kept a three-day journey distance with the Red Army. The Red Army was able to retreat without inflicting further casualties. After Guo Xunqi returned to his life, Liu Xiang ignored the objections of old Jiang and insisted on promoting him to the rank of model division commander.

However, during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Liu Xiang did not slacken off in the slightest, insisting on dragging his sick body to the front line, leaving a last word on his deathbed: "The enemy army will not withdraw from the border for a day, and the Sichuan army will not return to its hometown for one day, so as to strive for the final victory of the War of Resistance." The Sichuan Army also lived up to its trust and became an important armed force on the battlefield of the Anti-Japanese War.

Guo Xunqi served as the commander of the Fifty Army, under the jurisdiction of the 144th Division, the 145th Division, and the New 7th Division, he not only cooperated with the three detachments of the New Fourth Army and supported each other, destroying the bridges and communication lines of the Japanese army, but also replenished ammunition for the New Fourth Army and covered the deputy commander Zhang Yunyi to go north, but lao Jiang knew about it and removed him from his post.

Guo Xunqi was later captured, and he hoped to return to Sichuan to plot a rebellion. Our army knew that he had provided help, had extensive contacts with the New Fourth Army, and had made great achievements in the anti-Japanese battlefield, and agreed to his request.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Guo Xunqi served as a member of the Sichuan Provincial People's Government and deputy director of the Sichuan Provincial Water Conservancy Department, and died of illness on December 28, 1959.

Liu Xiang has a sense of the overall situation, and Guo Xunqi listened to Liu Xiang's advice, left a "living road" for himself, and eventually enjoyed his old age, which shows that it is really important to follow the right people, choose the right road, and do the right thing.
