Her husband is the second most traitor, but she herself is a heroine among women and deserves respect

During the Republic of China period, the traditional culture that lasted for thousands of years was greatly challenged, and various new ideas emerged in an endless stream, especially the ideological emancipation of women, which can be called unprecedented in ancient times, and countless strange women have emerged.

The history inn has introduced many strange women of the Republic of China before, such as Lin Huiyin, Lu Xiaoman, Zhang Ailing, Li Lingyu, Hu Yun, Hu Lanqi, etc. Today I will introduce a more different strange woman - Li Lizhuang.

The name Li Lizhuang may not be familiar to many people, but her husband you must know, who? He was a major representative of our party at that time, and later became the second largest traitor Chen Gongbo after Wang Jingwei.

After the establishment of the Guangdong "Feminist Movement Alliance", the president was the famous Xiang Jianyu, and the vice president was Li Lizhuang, who was one of the leaders of the early women's movement of our party.

And Chen Gongbo, when he was young, was also a prominent figure, charming, poetry and calligraphy are outstanding, so he deeply attracted Li Lizhuang, especially the same faith, but also let the two enter into marriage hand in hand, once everyone regarded as a pair of talented women created by heaven and earth.

When the first congress of our party was held, Chen Gongbo attended as a representative of the Guangzhou Communist Group, when Li Lizhuang and Chen Gongbo had just married, and they also went to Shanghai with their husbands to witness the birth of our party.

However, Chen Gongbo is a playboy, in addition to Li Lizhuang, there are two women with husband and wife, one of which is his secretary Mo Guokang.

In other words, an ordinary woman, when encountering such a situation, it is always necessary to give up clearly and clearly, but Li Lizhuang is very different, she is not noisy, tolerant and accepting, it seems to be the operation of the grandmother of the big family in the old era, but if you look closely, you will find that in fact, Li Lizhuang has his own bottom line and persistence, and feelings are only a very small part of her life.

Later, Chen Gongbo openly rebelled and followed Wang Jingwei as a traitor, while Li Lizhuang still adhered to his ideals and was busy for the cause of women's rights after his bitter persuasion was fruitless.

After Wang Jingwei's death at the end of 1944, Chen Gongbo became the "successor" and served as the acting chairman of the puppet Nationalist government in Nanjing, but he also knew that the end of Japan was coming, and he was just doing routine work.

On August 25, 1945, 10 days after the fall of the puppet nationalist government in Nanjing, Chen Gongbo fled to Japan, and Li Lizhuang did not abandon him and went to Japan with her husband.

During the Japanese exile, Chen Gongbo was very depressed in his heart, and once, he actually took out a pistol and prepared to commit suicide, and at the moment of shooting, Li Lizhuang rushed in, knocked out the pistol, and saved his life.

Later, in order to prevent her husband from looking for short-sightedness again, Li Lizhuang did not leave Chen Gongbo's side and constantly comforted and explained him.

In 1946, after Chen Gongbo was extradited back to China, he was sentenced to death for adultery.

Chen Gongbo knew that he would not be able to escape death, and acted very calmly, and did not file a request for appeal. However, Li Lizhuang ran around for him and submitted to the court a "Plea for Re-judgment for Chen Gongbo" to make a final defense for him.

Of course, as the main criminal of the Wang puppet clique and the second big traitor, any appeal was ineffective, and the court also rejected Li Lizhuang's appeal, upheld the original judgment, and executed him by firing squad on June 3, 1946.

Chen Gongbo's sentence to death should be very gratifying, but Li Lizhuang, as his wife, sacrificed his life to appeal for him, which is actually worthy of our respect.

After Chen Gongbo was shot, Li Lizhuang also accepted this ending frankly, took his two sons Chen Gan and Chen Mai to the United States, and raised the two sons alone.

With such a great mother as Li Lizhuang, these two children naturally achieved extraordinary things, especially Chen Gan, who later became the head of the Asia-Pacific region of Westinghouse Electric Company, and became extremely wealthy.
