He was the principal of the Baoding Military Academy and the prime minister, but he died of illness and starvation because he was not a traitor

As the first regular army military school in China's modern history, Baoding Military Academy has trained more than 1,500 generals and plays a pivotal role in modern history.

Baoding Military Academy has a total of 8 principals, of which the most famous is undoubtedly the first military figure in modern times, Jiang Baili, but if you want to say that you have the highest achievements and the greatest contributions, I am afraid that jia Deyao will be counted.

He was the principal of the Baoding Military Academy and the prime minister, but he died of illness and starvation because he was not a traitor

Jia Deyao was born in 1880 in Hefei, Anhui Province, graduated from the famous Japanese Army Non-Commissioned Officer School, and after returning to China, because of his excellent military ability, he was soon promoted to brigade commander of the 15th Mixed Brigade and the defender of the town of southern Shaanxi, and also married Feng Yuxiang and Li Jishen as Jinlan brothers.

In 1919, Jia Deyao was appointed as the 6th principal of the Baoding Military Academy for two years. According to statistics, in the two years that Jia Deyao was the principal, more than 1,300 students were trained, and more than 300 people later became generals, including Chen Cheng, Luo Zhuoying, Zhou Zhirou, Ma Fawu, Wang Yizhe and other famous generals.

There is also a student named Chu Chunxi, who is the prototype of Chu Yunfei in the TV series "Bright Sword" and one of the "Thirteen Taibao" of Yan Xishan, who was caused a lot of trouble by our army in the Battle of Datong.

However, Chu Chunxi was also a man who understood great righteousness, and later followed Fu Zuoyi in the uprising and joined the camp of our army.

Moreover, Jia Deyao not only mixed well in the military circles, but also served as the premier of Beiyang.

At first, Jia Deyao served in Feng Yuxiang's troops, Feng Yuxiang launched a coup d'état, expelled Puyi from the palace, and revoked the preferential treatment of the royal family, Jia Deyao was an important participant in it, and as his merits continued to accumulate, his status also continued to rise.

Later, Jia Deyao met Duan Qirui through Feng Yuxiang, the two were fellow villagers in Hefei, Anhui, and Jia Deyao's ability was also recognized by Duan Qirui, and gradually became a person that Duan Qirui relied on very much.

During his reign, Duan Qirui went in and out six times, borrowing a large amount of debt from the Japanese, which allowed him to stand firm in the political arena of the Republic of China.

By 1926, Duan Qirui's financial resources were exhausted and could no longer be supported, Prime Minister Xu Shiying proposed to resign, Duan Qirui struggled to find a replacement, and finally selected Jia Deyao.

Jia Deyao was originally unwilling to take up this mess, but he could not watch Duan Qirui go into decline, so, under the persuasion of a group of friends, he reluctantly became the prime minister. However, he also put forward a condition: Duan Qirui was no longer allowed to have financial dealings with Japan.

After Jia Deyao took office, he coordinated the forces of all parties and went to major banks to contact loans, which soon stabilized Duan Qirui's government, and Duan Qirui said with emotion: "Kunting (Jia Deyao character Kunting) took office early, why should I do this!" ”

But unfortunately, during Jia Deyao's tenure, there was the "August 13" massacre, Jia Deyao gave Duan Qirui a back, the cabinet all resigned, and Jia Deyao also lived in seclusion in Tianjin, never to ask about political affairs again.

After the outbreak of the All-out War of Resistance, the Japanese thought of Jia Deyao in order to cultivate agents, and sent dozens of people to constantly lobby him for a pseudo-post, and even confiscated his real estate and money in order to force him to obey.

At this time, Jia Deyao's health also took a sharp turn for the worse, and he kept having heart attacks, but he never gave in and resolutely did not commit adultery.

One day, the Japanese came to the door again and forced him to take up a false post, and Jia Deyao took out a pistol that had been treasured for many years and said a sentence: "Starvation is small, and loss of temperance is big." "Then he shot and killed the Japanese who had come to lobby, and fled to Shanghai, where he lived in the French Concession.

In 1940, Jia Deyao died of starvation in the French Concession in Shanghai at the age of 60.

Chiang Kai-shek also greatly appreciated his national integrity, posthumously promoted him to the rank of general, and specially published a telegram of condolences in the newspaper, saying: "(Jia Deyao) refused to obey the enemy and hypocrisy when North China fell, maintained national integrity, and was commended for his life deeds and reported to the National History Museum." ”
