Meng Dong, deputy director of the State Administration of Radio and Television, said that the launch of the channel is not only an important measure to innovate communication methods to serve and publicize the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, but also an important measure to promote the exploration and practice of China's 8K ultra-high-definition video in the new era, build an ultra-high-definition video industry system and a new form of audio-visual consumption, and promote the high-quality development of radio and television.
Mo Gaoyi, member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and director of the Publicity Department, said that the Beijing Winter Olympics have now entered the sprint stage, and the application demonstration of the Winter Olympics of science and technology is like an arrow, which will soon become a new starting point for the coordinated development of 5G+8K. In this context, the 8K Ultra HD Test Channel should be born from time to time, and will serve the concept of the Winter Olympics of science and technology on the basis of accelerating the upgrading of ultra-high definition technology and help the coordinated development of "5G+8K".
The Beijing Radio and Television Station's Winter Olympics Documentary 8K Experimental Channel has been broadcast and distributed on Gehua Cable TV network and IPTV platform since December 31, covering TV viewers in Beijing. During the Winter Olympic Games, the 8K Trial Channel, as a 5G+8K application demonstration integrated broadcast control platform for the Winter Olympics of Science and Technology, broadcasts the event signal, broadcasts high-quality programs, and provides a unified source for led large screens in public areas, medium screens in demonstration communities, and small screens on mobile terminals.
