In September 2021, the first "Shanghai Cup" Chess Masters Open Tournament was successfully held in Nanxiang Town, building a high-quality competitive platform for chess enthusiasts and top chess players at home and abroad. The participants covered about 20 countries on three continents, and all the top chess players in China appeared, and the teenagers in the Yangtze River Delta region also enthusiastically participated.
It is reported that Nanxiang Town plans to build the "Shanghai Cup" Chess Masters Open Tournament into a brand event and benchmark event in the field of chess sports in the country and even the world in the next 3-5 years.
