Foxconn stopped work again, Tesla fled into the wilderness, and India relied on a lazy word to scare off American capital

Some time ago, India's minister of transport called out to Musk to let Tesla come to India to build a factory. Musk was frightened when he heard this, and quickly refused, lest he avoid it. The reason is simple, Foxconn has already stepped on the thunder once, and he doesn't want to give people heads anymore.

According to Indian media reports, on December 30, the Foxconn factory in India was again shut down due to worker protests. Hundreds of workers sought medical attention to food poisoning followed by mass protests involving more than 1,000 workers.

Some people say that the food is unhygienic, some people say that the dormitory is not qualified, and seeing that the matter is getting bigger and bigger, Foxconn can only declare a shutdown and promise to improve the food and accommodation conditions for workers. According to local officials, the plant, which was scheduled to resume production on Jan. 3, has now been pushed back three days.

Anyone who has moved bricks in a large factory knows how much damage will be caused by three days of work stoppage. However, Gou is estimated to have become accustomed to it, after all, it is not the first time he has been pitted. As we all know, the purpose of Foxconn to build a factory in India is to reduce the cost of employment and obtain more benefits. After coming, I learned that it was fortunate not to post upside down, and even dared to hope to make money.

First of all, India's infrastructure is too backward, and the time spent on the transportation of parts and components is two or three times that of the Chinese mainland, which seriously affects production efficiency.

What's worse is that the quality of Indian workers is extremely poor, and late miners are a common occurrence. The work that can be done is grinding foreign workers, and the technology that is not understood is too lazy to learn, and eats and waits for death at Foxconn all day. Coupled with the impact of the epidemic, Foxconn had no choice but to stop work, and Apple's mobile phone shipments directly fell by half.

Another Apple foundry, Wistron, didn't fare much better. In December last year, Wistron's Indian workers did not receive the agreed wages when they entered the workforce, and smashed the factory in a fit of rage. Taking advantage of the chaos at the scene, the demonstrators began to "buy zero yuan" and took away thousands of Apple mobile phones on the production line.

The timing is also good, just in the production season on Christmas Eve. In the end, the Wistron plant had to shut down for two weeks, resulting in a total loss of 437 crore rupees (about 380 million yuan).

Over the years, in order to disintegrate China's core position in the world industrial chain, the Western world has been seeking to transfer labor-intensive enterprises such as Foxconn to India and Vietnam, but every time, there will always be a variety of moths. They underestimate China's efforts to sit in this position, and even more underestimate the congenital problems of India, a country that has been unable to develop its secondary industry.

For example, the Western world is rarely exposed to the laziness of Indians, in their world, India's code farmers, IT industry executives are notoriously diligent, so these capitals think that Indians must be the same as Chinese, hardworking, brave and kind, right?

But if you have dealt with Indians, you will find that they are really lazy to the extreme, which the British know very well. As early as the colonial period, the British discovered the laziness of the Indians, believing that they were passive and cunning, like a gyroscope, they would not turn without smoking, and the work of accounting for them was always perfunctory.

At first, the British thought it was too hot and the Indians were too lazy to move. Some scholars have found that it is likely that the survival pressure in the tropics is small, and there is no need to cultivate the virtue of hard work.

In China, spring ploughing and autumn harvest have four distinct seasons, and if you don't step on the land to plant, you will starve to death. But India is different, the tropical climate is equivalent to a natural greenhouse, ready to sow seeds, crops grow fast, left and right hungry. This is also the historical reason why people living in the tropics do not have a concept of time.

A high-quality worker must have at least two points: a serious and industrious work attitude and a secondary education. The previous Indian is definitely out of the picture, let's take a look at the state of education in India.

Although India has set a target of ten years of compulsory education, in fact, the vast majority of low-caste and rural children do not attend school, with less than 60 per cent of school enrolment in grades four and five and 50 per cent of dropouts in grades five to eight. Women are less educated, with less than 50 per cent of Indian women illiterate.

It is clear that the Indian workers do not occupy either, neither work seriously nor obey discipline. Crucially, they are also ashamed of manual labor, which is a byproduct of the caste system, or rather, the essence of caste is occupation.

The brahmins of the highest rank, who are responsible for writing the scriptures, are mental laborers; the second level of the Kshatriyas also do mental work, but they have to fight on the battlefield; the third level of vedas, most of whom are merchants and craftsmen, are mentally and physically dry; the fourth level of shudras and the untouchables outside the hierarchy are generally pure manual laborers.

Hindu teachings hold that manual labor is "unclean" and that as long as you do some manual work, purity is polluted. It is said that in traditional societies, wealthy Brahmin families had to be served even by pulling shit and wiping their butts.

Because caste is immutable, from birth is destined to be what caste you are, so many low-caste Indians are completely flat, anyway, no matter how hard they try, they can't achieve class leapfrogging, simply live comfortably, as long as they don't die of hunger, no one is willing to move bricks bitterly.

This is also the root cause of poverty in India, we often say "hard work to get rich", laziness leads to poverty, the poorer the lazier, which is caught in a dead cycle. The West always wants to make India the next "world factory", but this is to use the blood and sweat of thousands of workers to exchange, not like the Indians, did not learn to walk and began to run, manufacturing has not yet done a good job, it took the lead in the development of service industry and software outsourcing, and finally nothing.

Another reason for the laziness of Indian workers is that they are so well protected by labor laws.

India's labor laws are bizarre and particularly unfriendly to large companies. As long as the size of more than one hundred people, workers must be dismissed with the consent of the government. Under normal circumstances, the government will not agree, these people are white flowers votes.

Some people say, then I don't open a company in India, it's always okay to close the door and leave, right? Sorry, this also requires the consent of the government, and there is only one way to get around them, and the company will go bankrupt.

These laws and regulations, on the surface, are protecting the rights and interests of workers, but in fact they have become a stumbling block for medium-sized enterprises, disguised as restricting the development of enterprises, resulting in the polarization of Indian enterprises: one is a large industry giant, which can use its bargaining advantage to offset the losses caused by labor law; the other is a small workshop without a license, which simply cannot meet the implementation conditions of the labor law and is in the gray area of supervision.

The workers got the "iron rice bowl", did not have to worry about being fired, and naturally lived a pension life of touching fish. In 2019, Modi reformed the labor law, repealed 12 labor laws, introduced competition mechanisms, and vigorously promoted privatization, which caused strong opposition among workers and organized several strikes, which could only be eliminated.

In the final analysis, it is still a matter of people, as long as the whole society has the determination to reform, these are not things. When New China was first founded, our starting point was not as high as india's, but the leaders withstood the pressure and successfully completed land reform and industrialization, which has led to today's results.

On the other hand, India lacks a pioneering spirit of hard work and does not have a complete industrial system, but wants to enjoy the "demographic dividend" like China, which is simply a fool's dream. After all, there are some things that can't be done just by thinking.
