Legend of Tongjia'an (Yangzhou Jiangdu Bridge Town)

It is said that during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, there was a rich merchant surnamed Tongjia Lane (now Tongxing Village), who had a son and two daughters, the son followed his father to Yangzhou to do business, the eldest daughter was married, and the younger daughter was waiting for employment. One day, the sisters met to go to the Dutian Temple to burn incense and pray for blessings. When the two of them knelt down to worship, they saw the fan in the hands of the Bodhisattva of Dutian fall to the ground, and the sister picked it up and put it in the hands of Dutian, just turned around and the fan fell again, and several times it was still the same. The little sister silently took the fan, prostrated herself in front of the statue, and then slowly inserted it into Du Tian's hand, and did not see it fall after a moment. In the smoke of candlelight, the pilgrims saw the buddha's eyebrows flicker and smile. The crowd said in amazement: The village girl is incense and fanning the edge, and the bodhisattva appears to show his eyebrows. This girl has a fan relationship with Du Tian, which is a good (fan) fate given by God!

The nunnery is equipped with a side room, a courtyard, several trees planted on both sides, and a flower garden, which is simple but elegant. The shrine in the main hall of the front well is dedicated to the statue of Toten and Niangniang, and the shrine in the back house is dedicated to the statue of Kannon. The little girl of the Tong family was young, but soon she did not die. Later, the Gutu River List Xingdu Heavenly Society, the Tongjia Nunnery became the palace of the Dutian Bodhisattva and Niangniang. Every year on May 18th, the bodhisattvas and ladies of the parade have to stop at the Tongjia'an for a short rest, and return to the palace after the lantern festival is over at night.
