Recently, some netizens posted on the C114 forum that the telecom star card package will be offline, and the official even played the advertising slogan of "out of print stall" in the telecom App.
Xiao Lei tried to find this package on the official website of Telecom, but found that it had been removed from the shelves and could not be handled.
However, on the Website of Beijing Telecom, Xiao Lei still found the package content and tariff details of the Telecom Star Card. Specifically, the star card has a monthly rent of 19 yuan, including 30G directional traffic, covering Baidu, Toutiao and NetEase applications. The data rate is 1 yuan 1GB per month. Compared with the King Card, the advantage of the Star Card is mainly that the traffic monthly package is very cheap.
In addition, Xiao Lei also found that the previous China Telecom Wenzhou Telecom flagship store also launched a more ferocious star card, the monthly fee is also 19 yuan, but the directional traffic is as high as 195GB, the general traffic is 5GB, and the voice is 100 minutes. Obviously, this is estimated to have been introduced at the time when the price war was at its most ferocious.
However, it is a pity that these two star card packages cannot be processed now. In the previous screenshot, Telecom has said very clearly that it is necessary to stop selling the 19 yuan stall. Unicom also broke the news that it was going to launch a monthly fee of 29 yuan of the King Card 2.0. It is not difficult to find that operators now think that the monthly fee of the 19 yuan package is too low, and they should be removed from the shelves and launch more high monthly packages.
In fact, before that, operators have removed a wave of low-monthly rental packages, and Internet packages such as xiaowang cards, rice powder cards, and small treasure cards below 20 yuan cannot be opened for new accounts.
From the operator's point of view, there may be a lot of helplessness in doing so. On the one hand, under the pressure of speeding up and reducing fees, the profit margins of operators have been compressed, and 5G construction investment also requires huge capital investment. On the other hand, the current regulatory requirements require operators not to restrict old users from applying for Internet packages, and operators have less incentive to push low-cost packages.
However, from the perspective of users, the price increase of Internet packages and the removal of low-cost packages are naturally not in our interests. For us, sticking to the low-priced packages we are using and not upgrading the high-priced packages may be the only way to fight.
