Doumen Awakening Lion, as a traditional art active in the local area, has a history of more than 400 years. Every New Year's Festival, many places will invite the lion awakening team to help celebrate, and the scene is very lively. In June 2010, Doumen Xingshi was included in the third batch of intangible cultural heritage list in Zhuhai.

Doumen Awakening Lion has a history of hundreds of years and occupies an important position in Zhuhai's traditional folk culture
Doumen folk lion awakening activities first appeared in the middle of the Ming Dynasty, originating in the red star, center, Dong'an and other villages in Lianxi, and occupying an important position in the traditional folk culture of Zhuhai. It is one of the indispensable cultural activities of the people of Doumen during the New Year's Festival and celebration ceremony, and it is also a symbol of the people's living and working in peace and contentment, social peace and joy, and it has also become a cultural bridge for Hong Kong and Macao compatriots and overseas Chinese to recognize their ancestors and return to their ancestors. Doumen Awakening Lion generally integrates martial arts, dance and music as a whole, and belongs to the southern Chinese art of waking lions. It is divided into single lion, double lion and group lion performances, mostly with three-star drums, seven-star drums, seven stars and three-star mixed drums as the conductor. Each lion is completed by the lion head and the lion tail, and the dance method includes the lion out of the hole, the upper platform, the pile array, the bench and so on.
For a long time, these teams have not only been active in the district, but also expanded the scope of activities to the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong and Macao regions to carry out cultural exchange activities, and some lion awakening teams have also achieved good results in provincial and municipal performances or competitions for many times. In 2005, with the approval of the Guangdong Dragon and Lion Association, Doumen District set up the first "Guangdong Dragon and Lion Training Base" in Zhuhai. Although it is a non-governmental organization, it also marks that the awakening lion of Doumen has reached a high level. Today, Doumen has 32 awakening lion teams, with more than 600 team members, and Doumen also has the only dragon and lion first-class coach and international referee in the city.
In 1988, he followed Master Liang Facheng to learn the art of traditional lion awakening; in 1995, he taught traditional lion awakening at The Doumen County Sports School; in 1997, he established the Doumen County Wushu Gymnasium to teach traditional lion dance and high-pile lion dance; in 2000, he established the Doumen District Zhongjian Dragon and Lion Martial Arts Gymnasium; in 2005, he established the Doumen District Luoliang Sports Association to teach martial arts and wake lions. In 2012, Chen Baijian was included in the fourth batch of zhuhai intangible cultural heritage lion representative inheritors list.
Chen Baijian, who studied martial arts at university, came into contact with the waking lion by chance after graduation and found that the two were integrated, and the waking lion was more cheerful and festive and fell in love. "The footwork of waking the lion includes horse steps, lunges, virtual steps, opening and closing steps, etc., which are similar to martial arts footwork." Chen Baijian said that the combination of waking lion and martial arts vividly reflects the essence of waking lion "quiet like a spirit cat serving a mouse out of the cave, moving like a tiger catching a sheep and being agile". Over the years, Chen Baijian has recruited many disciples, provided technical, material, spiritual and other support, and constantly encouraged apprentices to open the museum and promote it. At the same time, he also teaches classes in the school and actively inherits the culture of waking lions. During the Spring Festival, Chen Baijian also led the team to participate in many art parades during the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival, so that the culture of waking lions was deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.
