Why did the six gentlemen of WuShu worry about the country and the people, and they were all sincere for the people of the country, so why did they not get the sympathy and recognition of the people? There are three reasons for this.

The first is to abolish the department and hold new schools

The Beijing Normal University Hall was established, and all the colleges, ancestral temples, righteous studies, and social studies were changed into schools that also studied Chinese and Western studies.

Doing so is tantamount to offending all the readers. Those intellectuals who are full of poetry and books have been reading the Four Books and Five Classics all their lives, and they only want to make a meritorious name through the examination. The reform of the law wants to abolish the imperial examination, and the intellectuals first do not agree.

The second is to emphasize commerce over agriculture

Economically, the Penghu Reform Law advocated that the Qing Dynasty must build a country with industry and commerce in order to enrich the country and support the people. China has thousands of years of agricultural civilization, the people's concept of survival is "three acres of land, a cow wife and children hot kiln head" farming life, the Penghu reform method to set up factories and enterprises, ordinary farmers naturally can not accept.

The third is to streamline institutions

The Penghu Reform Law advocates the reduction of officials, and the number is tens of thousands, and there is no corresponding follow-up measure. Where the old officials and masters could accept that they had become the main force opposed to the Penghu Reform Law.

The starting point of the Penghu Reform Law was good, and it was also aware of the problems of the Qing Dynasty. It is just that Kang Youwei's propositions are too fierce, and he does not have the strength to change the law, and the steps are too big, and the Qing people who have been immersed in feudal ideas for a long time cannot understand and accept them. Eventually, it was short-lived in history.
