In early July, he embarked on a train to the Tibetan Plateau alone, and after a brief stay in Xining and Golmud, traveled west again. The day before arriving in Lhasa, on the train, I signed up for a tour group and took the Everest Line.
I had only seen Everest in books and on the Internet before, and I never dreamed that one day, I would have a close contact with Everest.
On the day I arrived in Lhasa, it was noon when I got off the train, and during the epidemic, the station management was very strict, and after checking for half a day, I walked out of the station and set off towards the booked inn.
After walking for a few miles, I saw a large river with a bed of about a thousand meters wide, and some of the pale green waters revealed yellow sand beaches. In the distance, the mountains meet the blue sky and white clouds, forming a beautiful picture unique to the snowy plateau.
Along the way, enjoy the beautiful scenery in front of you, and at the same time follow the instructions of the travel agency, find a pharmacy to buy oxygen. I didn't expect that there would be so few pharmacies here, and I ran out of more than a dozen miles to find a pharmacy and buy a few bottles of oxygen.
The next morning, I walked to the White Pagoda near the Potala Palace and waited for the travel agency to pick me up. The travel agency did not have a special tour bus, but a driver drove a minibus to take us out to play. On this day, there were fourteen people in the car, a father and son, two couples, and the others were young girls and little handsome men.
Along the way, everyone talked and laughed, the girls sang songs, and the whole carriage was full of joy, but it was not lonely. After admiring the beautiful Sheep Lake and The Karola Glacier, they arrived in Shigatse at dark, and the next day they went through one checkpoint after another, and at five o'clock in the afternoon, the group arrived at the Everest base camp.
The night before in Shigatse, the tour guide had reminded that the Zhu Summit was very cold and seriously lacking in oxygen, and suggested that everyone rent an oxygen cylinder and a military coat. However, an oxygen cylinder costs more than six hundred, and a military coat costs one hundred and five. So, no one went to rent.
When I arrived at the Base Camp of Mount Everest, I found that it was not as cold as everyone thought, and it was not very oxygen-starved. When I got out of the car, I saw a large black tent in front of me. In the distance, there is a majestic mountain covered with snow. This is probably the legendary Mount Everest.
At this moment, a low, slightly dark-faced man came over, and the girls shouted: Wow! Bao Qiang is coming! Looking closely, it really looks a bit like Wang Baoqiang.
Bao Qiang chatted with the driver, divided our people in half, and took us to a tent, while the remaining seven people followed the driver into another tent. Originally, there were only seven people living in each tent here.
From childhood to adulthood, in addition to staying in a tent for one night on Taibai Mountain, this is probably the second time to live in a tent. But the accommodation here is obviously better than the Taibai Mountain. In the middle of the tent is a stove, and on all four sides is a sofa-like sleeping bed, a total of seven or eight, each more than a meter wide, like a double bed.
After settling in, we went out of the tent together to see Everest.
Walk upstream along a rocky beach river and you can see many people there, taking pictures of the distant mountains. It is the height of summer, but here it is like an autumn night, the cold wind hunting, blowing on the face of the cool silk, so uncomfortable. Maybe it's the snowy mountains and glaciers on the road, maybe it's the 5,000-meter altitude under your feet, and you don't feel how high Mount Everest is, but the holy snow on the mountain and the mountains that disappear into the clouds are still so far away.
When I returned to the tent, it was late afternoon, and the Tibetan aunt asked if she wanted to eat yak hot pot for 80 yuan a person. Everyone agreed without thinking. Growing up so big, no one has ever eaten yak beef, they are very excited and full of expectations. Yak hot pot has become the biggest topic of the day.
Half an hour later, the yak hot pot was finally served. Unlike the hot pot that is usually eaten at a hot pot restaurant, the hot pot here is a variety of dishes put together in the pot, cooked and served, more like the common spicy hot.
Even so, probably because they were really hungry, everyone gathered around, took a disposable paper bowl, and scooped the vegetables into the bowl together with the soup.
Although most of them are potatoes, green vegetables, meatballs, and yak beef, the taste is OK. The crowd devoured, and after eating half a bowl, there was only a little soup left in the bowl. So I called my aunt to add vegetables. She said there was no meat, no meatballs, only potatoes and greens.
Everyone feels a little pit in their hearts, but it is not easy to say anything, just let the aunt add what she has, and it is important to eat enough.
So, potatoes, greens, sweet potato flour are all off the pot. Although there was no meat, this time the portion was quite large, and finally fed all seven of us.
The night was not as cold as the legend says, but probably because of the high reaction, everyone did not fall asleep. A few girls had expected to get up in the middle of the night to see the stars, but unfortunately, all night, it had been raining all night. So I looked forward to the dawn again, and looked at the golden mountain of sunshine. Unfortunately, the next morning, the rain still did not stop, and the sunshine golden mountain could not be seen.
On the way back, everyone discussed the trip, and they all felt that the most beautiful scenery should belong to the Karola Glacier, a snowy mountain with a height of more than 5200 meters, which attracted us to climb all the way to the end. Although Mount Everest is majestic, it can only be seen from a distance. Of course, we also talked about the yak hot pot that night, some people felt a bit of a loss; some people thought it tasted good, that is, there was too little meat; and some people suggested that it should be renamed yak dung hot pot, because the burning under the pot is yak dung.
