The new Hubei Provincial Museum is finally open!

The opening of the new museum of hubei provincial museum not only means that the cultural relics have moved to a new home, but also conveys a message to the public: you may have the opportunity to witness the top ten "treasures of the town museum" at one time.
On December 13, 2020, the top ten "treasures of the town hall" of the Hubei Provincial Museum have been revealed, in addition to the zenghou yi chimes, the Yue Wang Gou jian sword, the skull fossil of the Yunxian people and the yuan qinghua four love tu mei vase, there are six other "treasures of the town hall", namely the Zeng hou Yi Zun pan, the Yunmeng sleeping tiger Qin Jian, the tiger bird drum, the painted character car and horse travel map, the Shijiahe jade portrait and the Chongyang copper drum.
However, before the new museum is opened, we can only see the existing four "treasures of the town hall", and the other six new "treasures of the town hall" will not have a chance to see the real face until the end of the third phase of the museum' project.
Fast forward a year, the third phase of the provincial expo project has ended, the new museum has been opened to the public for trial, attracting countless citizens and tourists, people are not only full of curiosity about the new museum, but also full of expectations for "gathering the treasures of the top ten town museums".
The day before yesterday (December 26, 2021), with this expectation, I finally walked into the new Museum of Hubei Province, and I was surprised and a little disappointed.
To their disappointment, the three treasures of the town hall, Nameless Sleeping Tiger Qin Jian, Shijiahe Jade Portrait and Chongyang Copper Drum, are not currently on display. But the surprise was that I finally saw the long-cherished Toriza Bird Drum.
So, next, let's share with you the treasures of the top ten towns of the Hubei Provincial Museum, ranking in no particular order, each one is a unique national treasure.
【Zeng Houyi Chimes: Rewriting the History of World Music】
The ZengHouyi chime was excavated in 1978 from the tomb of Marquis Zeng of Suizhou, Hubei Province, dating from the early Warring States period. The bell frame is 7.48 meters long and 2.65 meters high.
A total of 65 chimes are suspended in three layers and eight groups on a bronze and wood frame in the shape of a curved ruler, with a maximum height of 152.3 cm and a weight of 203.6 kg.
This is the largest set of chimes found in China so far, with the best preservation, the most complete rhythm and the most magnificent momentum. Each clock can play a double tone of three degrees, and the full set of twelve semitones of the bell can be transposed, and its tone is the current popular C major, which can play five, six or seven scales. Its unearthing rewrote the history of world music.
The combination of Zenghou Yi chimes and brilliant starry sky art in the new museum presents a highly developed ancient liturgical civilization. Looking closely at the brilliant galaxy-like dome, it was the Chu Feng pattern and the twenty-eight star chart intertwined.
The sound of a thousand years of natural sounds echoes in the vast starry sky, no matter how quickly time is lost, it cannot flow away from the inheritance and respect of Chinese descendants for Lile.
【Yue Wang Gou Jian Sword: The First Sword under Heaven】
How invincible is a thousand years, how many invincibles are there? How lonely is invincible? The Yue King's sword was probably too much to say.
The Yue King's Gou Jian Sword was excavated in 1965 at the Chu Tomb of Wangshan No. 1 in Jiangling, Hubei Province. When the sword was unearthed, it was shocking, and its "life" and origin shocked and confused the world. In the exhibition hall of about 300 square meters, it is only one thing.
Since the opening of the new museum, the crowds surrounding it have changed from wave to wave and marveled at it. It was tested to easily scratch 20 sheets of white paper at a time.
The sword is 55.6 cm long and 5 cm wide, with the head rolled outward in a disc shape and 11 delicate concentric circles cast inside. After more than 2500 years, the decoration is clear, the cold light is compelling, there is no rust, and it is known as "the first sword in the world".
【ZengHou Yizun Plate: The Pinnacle of Chinese Bronze Craftsmanship】
The tomb of Zeng Houyi can be described as a large treasure house, and countless exquisite bronzes have been unearthed.
The Zenghou Yizun Plate is composed of two pieces of utensils, zun and pan, with a height of 30.1 cm, a caliber of 25 cm, a height of 23.5 cm, and a caliber of 58 cm, which is considered to be one of the most complex and exquisite bronzes in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods.
The entire body is decorated with a total of 28 dragons and 32 cockroaches; the entire disc is decorated with 56 dragons and 48 cockroaches.
Every time I visit this cultural relic, the cockroach and dragon are my favorite details, and the hollow pattern composed of several dragons and snakes has really reached the level of craftsmanship, which can be called high-precision manufacturing more than 2400 years ago, and is known as the pinnacle of Chinese bronze craftsmanship.
【Yunmeng Sleeping Tiger Di Qin Jian: The Qin Law Discovered for the First Time】
The first time I saw it was on the 2017 National Treasure TV show. So, I kept looking forward to the second sight of it really appearing in front of me. Four years later, it landed on the stage of the National Treasure Show Season again.
Yunmeng Sleeping Tiger Land Qin Jian, excavated in 1975 in Yunmeng, Hubei Province, unearthed a total of 1155 pieces of Qin Dynasty bamboo Jane, is the first systematic discovery of Qin Law in China, Qin Law involves agricultural production, market transactions, conscription, official positions, ethnic minority relations and other aspects, was listed as "20th Century China's Top 100 Major Archaeological Discoveries" and "the Most Significant Chinese Civilization Hundred Archaeological Discoveries".
【Tiger Bird Drum: Chu People are fanatical fans of Feng】
After many years, the original "Tiger Bird Drum", one of the treasures of the town hall, was exhibited again. This musical instrument is one of the necessary props in the warring states historical drama and is the best representative of the output of Chu culture.
This is also one of the most surprising national treasures since the opening of the new museum. It was excavated in 2002 in Tomb No. 2 of Jiuliandun Chu Tomb in Zaoyang, Hubei Province, with a height of 135.9 cm and a width of 134 cm, consisting of two tigers and two phoenixes.
The base is two Crouching Tigers with their heads held high, their limbs bent, and their backs facing each, with three pythons on each side.
Two singing birds stomped on the tiger's back, and they stood with their backs to each other, with a large drum hanging in the middle. Under the big drum, two small standing tigers were lifted up and stood on the back of the phoenix.
And on the wings of the bird is a small phoenix that spreads its wings and wants to fly.
This cultural relic, the phoenix and the tiger are important roles. The Chu people still phoenix, and the Ba people worship the tiger. According to historical records, during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, the Chu and Ba people fought for many years, and the Fengta Tiger seems to be understood as a symbol of the relationship between the Chu people and the Ba people.
The whole piece of utensils is painted in black and decorated with red, yellow, silver and white multi-color paintings, and the stable tiger seat and the flying phoenix frame highlight the romance and magic of Chu culture.
【Painted Figures Of Carriages and Horses: The Earliest Surviving Long Scroll "Comic Strip" in China】
Excavated in 1987 from the Chu Tomb in Baoshan, Jingmen, Hubei Province, it is a lacquer painting of the outer wall of Qi, depicting the lacquer painting scene of the characters traveling in the Warring States period, with a total length of 87.4 centimeters and a total of 26 characters, which is known as the earliest existing long scroll "comic strip" in China.
If you want to feel the vivid scene of this cultural relic more clearly, the video GIF on the opposite wall cannot be missed, and modern high-tech makes the "cultural relics come alive" and enter the immersive exhibition mode.
Quietly watching, as if all the characters in the painting appear in front of us, so that today we really feel the travel etiquette of the Chu people, and the pigs and dogs leap, the carriages and horses are orderly, very natural.
【Chongyang Copper Drum: The Earliest Copper Drum Seen So Far】
Chongyang copper drum, found in 1977 in Chongyang County, Hubei Province, height 75.5 cm, drum diameter 39.5 cm, weight 42.5 kg, composed of copper drum body, copper drum seat and copper drum crown three parts.
According to research, this copper drum is the earliest copper drum seen in China, and it is also one of the only two-sided Shang Dynasty gluttonous copper drums that exist in the world, and the other side was lost in Japan in the early years and is now stored in the Kyoto Izumiya Hirokokan.
【Shijiahe Jade Portrait: Representative of Prehistoric High Jade Craftsmanship】
Shijiahe jade figure, excavated from the Shijiahe Cultural Site in Tianmen, 4200 to 4000 years ago, the face is realistic, the eyes are tilted in an inverted figure-of-eight shape, the nose is wide, the mouth is flat and slightly closed, exuding a majestic and mysterious atmosphere, and I can't help but think of the Sanxingdui in Sichuan.
【Yuan Qinghua Four Love Tu Mei Vase: Panda in Ceramics】
Yuan Qinghua Four Love Tu Mei Vase, excavated in 2006 in the tomb of King Jing of Zhongxiang, Hubei Province, with a height of 38.7 cm, a caliber of 6.4 cm, and a bottom diameter of 13 cm, is the leader of many surviving Yuan Dynasty blue and white porcelain, and is known as the "panda in ceramics".
The shoulders of the bottle are decorated with a picture of a phoenix wearing a peony, and four diamond-shaped windows on the abdomen depict four stories: Wang Xizhi Ailan, Tao Yuan Ming Aiju, Lin Hejing Ai Meihe, and Zhou Dunyi Ailian. The overall color is verdant and gorgeous, giving people an elegant and clear aesthetic enjoyment.
According to records, after the death of King Yingjing, Guo Shi, because he loved King Yingjing deeply, committed suicide after dressing up in the mirror and buried himself with her husband Jun. And her favorite four love Tumei bottle became her most precious funerary product.
【Yunxian human skull fossils: supplementing the history of human development】
In 1989 and 1990, two fossils of ancient human skulls that shook the world were unearthed in Xuetang Liangzi at the mouth of the Quyuan River in Qingqu Town, Yunxian County, Hubei Province.
According to paleomagnetic methods, fossils are roughly 1 million years old, known as "national treasures", named "Yunxian people", which has important scientific value for the study of human evolution.
Among them, the No. 2 skull is the only fossil skull in China that is best preserved in the "Homo erectus" stage of human ancestors.

Yuan Qinghua Four Love Tu Mei Vase in the "Art of Earth and Fire" exhibition area (Old Museum);
The skull fossil of Yunxian man is located in the "Yunxian Man" exhibition area that was once located in the old museum, but this time the museum did not pay attention to it, and it is expected to be inclusive.
The main cultural relics are concentrated in the new museum (south main hall): the first floor, the second floor "Zeng Houyi", the second floor "Yue Wang Gou Jian Sword", "Zeng Shijia", the third floor "Eight Hundred Years of the Chu Kingdom", "Liang Zhuang Wang".
