Howey Technologies introduces small diameter cable modules for disposable endoscopes equipped with MiniLED lighting

A few days ago, Howey Technology announced the launch of a unique small diameter cable module with MiniLED lighting for disposable endoscopes - OVMed? OCHSA and OCHTA.

This fully integrated medical-grade imaging subsystem combines an ultra-small diameter camera module with upgraded OVMed cables and MiniLED lighting to form a complete package that has been fully medically tested. The product provides excellent image quality, reduces development costs, and shortens time to market.

Ehsan Ayar, marketing manager for medical products at Howey Technologies, said that previously, single-use endoscope and catheter designers had to spend a lot of time and cost to procure cables and LEDs separately and then pair them with the company's wafer-level modules. Today, the company is helping customers reduce time to market with a complete, fully tested subsystem that can be integrated into disposable endoscopes that allow doctors to see more detail and reach the smallest anatomy of the body.

According to reports, the OVMed OCHSA cable module with digital MIPI output provides 800x800 pixel resolution and high-speed MIPI digital interface, suitable for larger outer diameter endoscopes, such as bronchoscopy, thoracoscope, thoracoscope, mediastinoscope, duodenoscope and amniotic mirror. Cable modules are designed to handle short and long distances and can be customized as needed.

The OVMed OCHTA cable module with analog output integrates The new OH0TA image sensor from Howey Technologies. Compared to its Guinness World Record-winning predecessor, the sensor is smaller in size, has up to four times the resolution, and provides wafer-level optics in a compact single component. The ultra-small size of the OCHTA cable module enables endoscopic equipment to penetrate deep into the body for neurological, ophthalmic, otolaryngology, heart, spine, urology, gynecology, arthroscopy and other examinations and surgeries. The module can also be used in dental and veterinary applications.

The integrated MiniLED illumination device that precisely controls brightness helps surgeons achieve precise brightness control, allowing them to clearly see anatomy that was previously impossible to see. With high contrast over a small local area, the product is suitable for extremely small package sizes, providing separate brightness and darkness control for multispectral (RGB/IR) devices during surgery.

Samples are now available in both cable modules and are available in flexible configurations: short (0.25m to 3.0m) or long (3m to 5m). Integrated MiniLED lighting will be available on January 1, 2022.

According to the data, OmniVision -Shanghai Weier Semiconductor Co., Ltd. is a Chinese semiconductor design company. With r&D centers and business networks around the world and annual shipments of more than 13.5 billion units, the Group is committed to providing sensor solutions, analog solutions and touch screen and display solutions.
