Huawei is suspected of winning a 5G contract in a large country in Southeast Asia to officially launch 5G services

On December 16, Indosat Ooredoo, one of Indonesia's largest telecom operators, launched 5G services in the east Kalimantan port city of Balikpapan, which should indicate that Huawei has gained a foothold in the Indonesian 5G market due to the presence of local Executives at the launch site.

This is the first commercial 5G service launched by Indonesian operator Indosat. Bahlil, head of the Indonesian Investment Coordination Committee, and Indosat Ooredoo executives personally experienced AR remote collaboration, AR inspection and other functions. Indonesia's telecom operator's future plans include expanding 5G to other major cities in Indonesia, including Jakarta, Surabaya and Makassar.

The reason why this is a 5G network built by Huawei is because Jacky Chen, CEO of Huawei Indonesia, attended the press conference and made it clear that Indosat Ooredoo is using 5G equipment provided by Huawei.

Jacky said: "It is a pleasure to be involved in this meaningful project and hope to be able to build a smarter and more connected Indonesia with indosat Ooredoo and solo people. ”

Ahmad Al-Neama, President and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo, said: "We believe 5G technology will help accelerate the digital transformation of Indonesian society and stimulate business innovation across all industries. The release of the new technology marks the official beginning of our journey to power the 5G revolution in Indonesia. ”

Indonesia also has a mobile operator Telkomsel, which originally had a good relationship with Huawei, launched commercial 5G mobile services on May 27, 2021, and currently only offers limited services in Greater Jakarta, Solow, Medan, Barikapan, Denpasar, Batam, Surabaya, Makasar and Bandung. Telkomsel uses 2300 MHz of spectrum to operate the 5G network, and the deployment of 5G also marks indonesia's entry into the stage of simultaneous operation of 4G and 5G networks. However, it is not known whether the Indonesian operator uses Huawei 5G equipment, and it seems that Huawei equipment has not been used at present.
