The basic research of flexible large strain transducers has been advanced and applied in Mars engineering

IT House December 26 news, according to the Institute of Mechanics, recently, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Mechanics researcher Su Yewang team designed and prepared a non-contact resistance type flexible large strain sensor.

According to reports, the sensor contains a serpentine lamination structure and two layers of elastic packaging layer, which achieves a strain sensing range of 0-50% through the tensile-bending-tensile transformation mechanism in the off-axis serpentine lamination structure.

IT Home understands that the sensor can be applied to monitor real-time human movements such as the neck, fingers and eyes, such as blinking, sound and breathing; measure tissue deformation in surgery, such as total knee replacement surgery; monitor the strain status of flexible aerospace equipment, such as parachutes and high air balloons.

It is worth mentioning that the sensor was applied to the ground experiment of the parachute of China's first Mars rover, and in the case of huge temperature changes in the wind tunnel, high-speed air flow impact and violent shaking of the umbrella body, the sensor was applied to monitor the parachute rope strain of the shrinking parachute in real time, providing guidance for the optimal design of the parachute and contributing to the successful landing of the "Tianwen-1" probe on May 15, 2021.
