According to industry sources cited by DigiTimes, TSMC plans to start commercial production of chips based on the 3nm process in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Apple expects to release the first TSMC 3nm chips in 2023, including the M3 chip Mac computer and the A17 chip iPhone 15.
The M1 Mac already delivers industry-leading power consumption, and the A15 chip in the iPhone 13 model is the fastest processor in a smartphone, so switching to the 3nm process in a few years will only cement Apple's lead in this space.
