This work depicts a story in the Bible: Judas, one of Jesus' twelve disciples, secretly colluded with his enemies and betrayed Jesus for his own benefit. On the eve of the Passover, Jesus invited his twelve disciples to dinner, and at the table he said that one of them had betrayed him. Judas, who was "a thief with a weak heart", was afraid of being discovered, so he sneaked away in advance, and immediately contacted the enemy after going out, and returned with a large group of men and horses to arrest Jesus, but the people who came to arrest Jesus did not know who was the real Jesus, so Judas said: Then let's set a secret code! Wait, I rushed up and kissed whomever was the real Jesus.
In this way, a group of people and horses broke into Jesus' house, only to see Judas pass through the crowd and go up to kiss Jesus, and in an instant Jesus was surrounded by soldiers and horses, and the atmosphere was very tense. Jesus had a hint of serenity in his serious expression, and judas the betrayer had a look of panic on his face. At this point, the story is coming to an end.

This scene is depicted by the painter Giotto with a paintbrush, and he places the male and villains in the story in the C position in the painting, highlighting the subject status.
Looking closely, he deliberately portrayed jesus' overall height ratio higher than Judas when depicting the two protagonists, in order to reflect the supremacy of Jesus and the despicable deeds of the betrayer Judas, so as to deepen people's understanding.
In the use of picture tone, Giotto is also very particular, he uses a lot of cool gray tones to lay the entire picture background, so that people feel a little oppressive and tense atmosphere from the perception.

In the depiction of the villain's clothes, he chose a very eye-catching color - yellow, and the overall look down shows that the villain Judas is very prominent in the picture. This not only brings visual impact to the viewer, but also has more social significance. Because in the Western society at that time, people believed that yellow represented betrayal, so this is why the painter Giotto chose yellow as the main color of the villain's male clothes.
To this day, this work is still a rare artistic treasure, and Giotto not only vividly recreates the classic scenes in the story for everyone, but also constantly injects his ideas into the artwork.
