Once considered a sequel to Second Life, social VR platform Sansar seems to have rolled off the production line without warning, and there is no official explanation for this. The Sansar website is now accessible and logged in.

The platform's official website was inaccessible for hours, and it couldn't connect if it tried to launch the actual experience via Steam. Sansar's social media account has yet to issue an official statement on the matter. In fact, users have been asking what's going on on its Discord channel, and the platform's Twitter account hasn't posted information since August.

Sansar, which also supports tablets, is one of many social VR platforms vying for a place in the so-called metavrese, originally founded a few years ago by Second Life developer Linden Lab. But in 2020, Linden Lab sold the platform to San Francisco-based Wookey Project Corp, turning to a renewed focus on Second Life. Since then, Sansar has also hosted some events, such as live music performances, but is largely "quiet" compared to Rec Room and VRChat.
