Five years ago, as the beginning of the track of "immersive experience" in China, the immersive drama "Sleepless Nights", co-produced by British theater pioneer Punchdrunk and Shanghai Wenguang Performing Arts Group, was first played in Shanghai. In less than 100 hours, 10,000 pre-sale tickets were sold out. This dramatic experience, which is between authenticity and drama and reshapes the relationship between watching and acting, has set off a wave of "immersion" across the country.

In the past five years, the Shanghai version of "Sleepless Nights" has been performed more than 1,400 times, with more than 440,000 people watching, an average attendance rate of 95%, and a total income of 380 million yuan. From the "niche concept" to "everything can be immersed", the outbreak of domestic immersive industry has made people see more possibilities for the performing arts industry to expand its boundaries. At the important moment of the fifth anniversary of the residency, "Sleepless Nights" broke the circle from the drama, combined with the West Bund Culture and Art Season, inspired by the "dynamic" stage effect, combined with the new field space, presented a subversive "static" anniversary special exhibition, inviting new and old audiences to witness the process of dream-making and dream-seeing.

Shanghai Wenguang Performing Arts Group announced at the press conference that it will introduce "Ember City" to continue to bring an "immersive experience" to the audience. The City of Burning Embers tells the story of a mythical world of gods and mortals rising from the burning ashes after the Trojan War. According to director Felix Barrett, "This new work will premiere in London next spring and will go further in terms of scale, immersion, set and experience, and we sincerely hope to bring this masterpiece to Audiences in Shanghai and China."
