After the results of the examination came out, the candidates who were eligible to enter the palace examination were almost all talents who were one of the best in a hundred, full of talents and eight buckets, and their talents were difficult to distinguish. For the emperor, how to choose the title, the eye of the list and the exploration of flowers is actually a very headache, so it is inevitable that the ranking will be determined according to the appearance of the candidate. Fifty-four years after Qianlong, Qianlong felt that the appearance of a scholar was not up to par, so he came out with a couplet to taunt him, and the next link of the scholar made Qianling ashamed of himself.
Liu Fengyu (劉凤诰), courtesy name Chengmu, was born in Pingxiang, Jiangxi during the Qianlong dynasty. The lack of maternal love did not make Liu Fenghuan break the jar and break it, but it was more sensible, the children of the poor were in charge early, and the hard life made him cherish the time even more, and he forgot to eat and read.
The ancients said: Heaven will descend upon the Scythians, and they will first suffer their hearts, strain their bones, and starve their bodies. Liu Fengchen has suffered a lot and experienced too many tribulations, but he always believes that the future can be expected, and only by reading can he change his fate and shine in the forefront. Since childhood, he has been talented and intelligent, coupled with diligent study, Liu Fenghuan has been a prodigy in the eyes of his neighbors since he was a teenager, and his future is unlimited in time.
In the forty-fourth year of Qianlong, Liu Fenghuan was eighteen years old, went to the provincial capital to participate in the township examination, and raised people in one fell swoop. In the following ten years, Liu Fenghuan still maintained the status of a person, and it is not known whether he did not participate in the examination or failed to be named in the gold list, which is not recorded in detail in the history books. After another ten years, Liu Fenghuan bid farewell to his relatives and embarked on the road of pursuing his dreams, the destination was the capital of the Qing Empire.
During the test, Liu Fenghuan almost got out early, so what happened? It turned out that the bell at the end of the exam sounded, and everyone else completed the answers, but Liu Fenghuan had not stopped writing, and he was sweating profusely. Rebbe Shangshu walked to him, ready to take away the examination papers according to the regulations, when he saw Liu Fenghuan's neat footprints and patched clothes, Rebbe Shangshu softened his heart, allowed him to continue answering questions, and personally lit candles for him.
A few days later, the imperial list was posted, and Liu Fenghuan was on the list, that is to say, Jinshi and the first. Not only that, but his talent conquered several ministers who read the examinations and qualified for the palace examination, and the examination papers were deliberately placed in front of them for the emperor to read. Qianlong himself was a very talented emperor, and when he carefully read Liu Fenghuan's examination papers, he nodded his head in praise and sent someone to call Liu Fenghuan, compared to the current job interview.
Qianlong thought to himself, now is the time to employ people, as long as Liu Fengchen gave him the first impression of passing, even if he can not be shortlisted in the top three, at least he will be given a good rank, and the room for promotion and salary increase in the future is relatively large. However, seeing Liu Fenghuan's appearance, Qianlong instantly changed his face and regretted summoning him. It turned out that Liu Fengchen suffered from an eye disease when he was a child and had no money to treat it, resulting in blindness in one eye and becoming what people call a one-eyed dragon.
The scene was slightly embarrassing, the Qianlong Emperor was very embarrassed, if he casually found an excuse to send Liu Fenghuan, he would definitely be discussed by the group of courtiers, and even said behind his back that he was too superficial to judge people by appearance; but if Liu Fenghuan was ranked high, his appearance was not passed, and it was really difficult to choose. As the saying goes, as long as the thinking does not slip, the method is always more than the difficulty, Qianlong frowned, and a brilliant plan came to mind.
Looking at Liu Fenghuan, who was calm and relaxed, Qianlong opened his mouth and said a link: One-eyed does not climb the dragon and tiger list! Liu Fengxuan was not stupid, and heard the emperor mocking himself, and the implication was to persuade him to retreat in spite of the difficulties. Immediately after, Qianlong came out of the upper league: "East Qiming, West Changgeng, Nanji Beidou, who is the star picking Han?" "It's more difficult than the last couplet. Liu Fenghuan, who was full of poetry books, did not get stuck by the couplet, and confidently gave the next link: "Spring Peony, Summer Peony Medicine, Autumn Chrysanthemum, Winter Plum, Chenben Tanhualang." Qianlong Longyan Dayue was completely conquered by Liu Fengxuan's literary talent and hand-picked him as a tanhua.
