In the past two years, Chengdu's e-commerce development has achieved remarkable results, with 7 enterprises shortlisted for the first batch of e-commerce demonstration enterprises, 4 e-commerce parks being rated as national e-commerce demonstration bases, and a number of indicators rank among the forefront of the country. Li Mingtao, president of the China International Electronic Commerce Center Research Institute, told reporters.
Taking Chengdu as an example, Li Mingtao shared that during the Digital Life Consumption Festival held in Chengdu in August this year, it deeply tapped the consumption potential and innovated consumption scenarios, with e-commerce transactions reaching 400.316 billion yuan and online retail sales reaching 89.972 billion yuan, an increase of 28.21% year-on-year. "The online retail market has shown strong resilience and vitality and has become an important engine to drive consumption."
The reporter learned from the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Commerce that in 2020, the e-commerce transaction volume of Chengdu exceeded the mark of 2.2 trillion yuan, an increase of 3 times over 2015, and online retail sales accounted for 32.3% of the total retail sales of social consumer goods.
It is worth noting that from January to November this year, Chengdu achieved online retail sales of 452.22 billion yuan, an increase of 21.1% year-on-year, and more than 1,000 enterprises increased their retail sales of goods by 19.3% through the Internet, showing strong economic resilience and vitality in the post-epidemic era.
