On May 28, 1942, Fan Shaozeng led his troops to kill Lieutenant General Naoji Sakai, commander of the Japanese 15th Division.
Naoji Sakai's death caused a great shock in the Japanese army, because in the history of the Japanese Army, "the death of the commander of the serving division was the first since the founding of the Army."
Although Fan Shaozeng made great contributions, he was transferred by Chiang Kai-shek to the deputy commander-in-chief of the Tenth Army without real power, and Fan Shaozeng dared to be angry with this boss and could only return to his hometown.
In August 1949, the Kuomintang was defeated and retreated in Sichuan, and Chiang Kai-shek wanted to reuse Fan Shaozeng to fight the civil war, and after leaving the mountains, Fan Shaozeng thought that he had worked hard to fight the devils, but he did not get the rewards he deserved, which made him not want to fight for Chiang Kai-shek.

After the reorganization in 1950, Fan Shaozeng was appointed as the "High Counselor" of the 50th Army and the deputy commander of the 148th Division.
