At that time, it was to open up Xuanwu so that these foreigners could come in and visit the park. The person in charge of this project was the governor of Liangjiang at that time called Duanfang, but he was transferred halfway through the building, and then he was replaced by another Liangjiang headquarters named Zhang Renjun, who was from Fengrun County, Hebei Province, so these people named this city gate Fengrunmen in order to pat themselves on the back. So when was it renamed Xuanwumen? This is the Republic of China government in 1928, when he felt that the names of these gates of Nanjing City contained feudal superstitions, so he changed all of them to a name, and changed the name of this Fengrun Gate to Xuanwu Lake. Nanjing's Ming Dynasty did not have a Xuanwu Gate, in fact, there is, not in this place, just in today's North Gate of the Ming Palace.
