Zhengzhou Shang Dynasty capital is recognized as the capital of the early Shang Dynasty, it represents the Shang civilization, the collection of the country, the city, bronze, writing four civilization elements, in the history of Chinese civilization and world civilization occupies an important position, at the same time for Zhengzhou to become a national historical and cultural city, listed in China's "eight ancient capitals" provide important empirical evidence.

As an important part of the construction of the core plate of the Shang Dynasty Wangcheng Ruins, the "Two Courtyards" are composed of three major parts: the Zhengzhou Shangdu Ruins Museum, the Zhengzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and the shared area, with a total construction area of 75,000 square meters.

Zhengzhou Shangdu Ruins Museum is a thematic site museum about the early Shang culture, architectural creativity mainly presents the cultural connotation of the Shang Dynasty civilization "golden jade resonance" and "like pearls like jade", the appearance of the building is abstract geometric shape, is the natural attribute of ancient civilization, with slope, slash elements, showing the majestic momentum of breaking through the earth. The overall building is closely integrated with the city wall and integrated into the Shangcheng Heritage Park. The sloping wall surface on the outer layer is a metaphor for the strata in archaeology, and the internal layout draws on the plane form and working method of the exploration party, and the "square-style" atrium space organically connects and divides the various functional areas, reflecting the professionalism, publicity and openness of the contemporary site museum.

The exhibition hall of Zhengzhou Shangdu Ruins Museum covers an area of 5500 square meters and consists of 6 exhibition halls, including "Weiwei Bodu Wangdu Model - Zhengzhou Shang Dynasty Capital City Civilization Exhibition", "Cradle of Civilization: Birthplace of Chinese Civilization", "Xuan bird Shengshang: Early History of the Shang Dynasty", "Weiwei Shangdu: Layout Planning of Shangdu", "Dayi Shangdu: Urban Life of Shangdu", "Four Square Poles: Regional Control of Shangdu", "Endless Life: Historical Continuation of Shangdu" and many other units.

Adjacent to the Zhengzhou Shangdu Ruins Museum, the exhibition hall of the Archaeological Museum of Zhengzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology covers an area of 2,100 square meters, focusing on the major achievements of archaeological excavations in Zhengzhou, mainly including Zhengzhou Century-old Archaeology, Zhengzhou Paleolithic Culture, Chinese Yazhang Culture and other exhibition halls.
