There is a saying that goes like this: Prosperous in the world of literature and art, chaotic world out of heroes. However, the chaotic world is also a deserter. It is quite appropriate to put this sentence on Sun Yuanliang's body.
Sun Yuanliang was born in 1904 in Huayang County, Chengdu, Sichuan. His father, Sun Tingrong, was a Zhixian in the late Qing Dynasty, and he was born at the age of 67. His father died when he was young, but he adhered to his ancestral precepts, studied diligently, and achieved excellent results. Later, he joined the army, was a graduate of the first phase of the Whampoa Military Academy, received the attention and promotion of his superiors, and soon became a general, serving as the commander of the 88th Division of the National Revolutionary Army, the commander of the 22nd Group Army, and the commander of the 5th Appeasement District of the National Army.
In Sun Yuanliang, there was a lot of controversy, some people said that he was a famous anti-Japanese general, and some people said that he was a lustful and escaped general. On August 13, 1937, the Battle of Songhu broke out, and Sun Yuanliang was the commander of the Eighty-eighth Division. The 88th Division was reorganized from the former 2nd National Guard Division in December 1931 and was reorganized in December 1936, consisting of a division directly subordinate unit, two infantry brigades, and two supplementary regiments, and was one of the three most elite German mechanized divisions in the Kuomintang troops that year.
At the beginning, Sun Yuanliang performed well, and at the front of the battlefield, he commanded the soldiers of the Eighty-eighth Division to kill the enemy with their lives. But it didn't take long for him to reveal his greedy and lustful nature, mainly doing these two things: 1. embezzling fortification fees; 2. cheating female students.
The first thing was like this: At that time, the superior allocated 260,000 yuan to the Eighty-Eighth Division for fortifications, and Sun Yuanliang saw that the money was open and felt that there was no need to spend the money. He saw that Zhabei had warehouses, steel, and empty houses left behind after the people fled, so wouldn't it be good for the troops to rely on these to block the Japanese army? Subsequently, he ordered the troops to build fortifications from local materials, and basically all the funds allocated fell into his own pocket. As a result, due to the unqualified quality of the materials, the defensive effect of the fortifications was so low that the soldiers of the Eighty-eighth Division often did not see the enemy side and were buried under the japanese artillery fire in this inferior fortification.
The second incident came from the recollection of Ge Tian, then director of the Ordnance Department of the Eighty-eighth Division and director of the Nanjing Communications Office: "When I arrived in Shanghai in early October (1937), I happened to meet the Shanghai student representatives comforting the eighty-eighth division headquarters in the Sihang warehouse, when Sun Yuanliang saw a female student representative Mei Qingmuxiu, he used rhetoric to ask the girl to play alone in the division headquarters, trying to rape. After this situation was known to Feng Shengfa, the deputy commander of the division, he went to persuade him to be ineffective. At this time, I went to the division headquarters, and Feng asked me to go again. After I persuaded Sun according to Feng Yi, he actually said: 'Heroes are always associated with beauty, and since ancient times heroes have liked beauty, especially we have made meritorious contributions in fighting in Shanghai, and there is nothing wrong with doing this little thing.' Two things are shameful enough to make Sun Yuanliang have a reputation for greed for money and lust.
In December 1937, the Defense Of Nanjing began, and although the Chinese army fought bloodily, it was finally defeated due to insufficient troops, backward weapons, and difficulties in supply. During the battle, Sun Yuanliang was ordered to guard the commanding heights of Nanjing, Yuhuatai and the south of Nanjing, but after only two or three days, the outer positions were lost, and the main direction of the Fukuo position was also broken by the Japanese army. The soldiers in the front were bloodied and sacrificed, and Sun Yuanliang bribed the old bustard with gold bars and hid in the Nanjing Qinglou. At noon on the 12th, the Zhonghua Gate was breached, and Sun Yuanliang unexpectedly escaped alone without informing the troops.
Afterwards, Sun Yuanliang was jokingly called "Flying General", describing him as running fast and escaping fast, and he himself, as if he did not care about this matter, brazenly wrote in his memoirs: "Since I could not find a boat by the river, I had to drill a gap to retreat to the mountains to the east." We crossed the railway between Longtan Station in Qixia Mountain and headed south into the mountains. The Turk compatriots graciously provided food, enthusiastically led the way, and found a boat for us, which gave us a lot of convenience and added countless sadness to us! In this way, I took more than 600 officials and brothers of my headquarters, and a lifetime of trauma and shame, from the vicinity of Longtan to the river, through Taixing, Huaiyin, Xuzhou, zhengzhou, and arrived in Wuhan in late March 1938. As a soldier, this kind of escape was shameful, but Sun Yuanliang not only saved his life during the escape, but also became rich. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he was transferred to the chongqing garrison commander, and in early 1948, he was appointed commander of the 16th Corps. Risking the leader's salary, embezzling a lot, leaning on the red and green, spending the day and drinking. He was jokingly called by netizens as the only lustful general who could rise to the rank and make a fortune while escaping. During the Battle of Huaihai, Sun Yuanliang was surrounded by the People's Liberation Army, and once again exerted his ability to escape, running to Nanjing in one breath and plating a layer of gold for the "Flying General".
In 1949, Sun Yuanliang ran to Taiwan, at that time, his reputation as a "flying general" was already famous in the world, and he was embarrassed to stay in the military circles, quit all his posts and started business. He opened a noodle shop, reluctant to mention the "heroic" deeds of that year, and devoted himself to writing a memoir. With a good attitude of indisputable with the world, he eventually lived a long life, died in 2007, and lived for 103 years.
Among Sun Yuanliang's children, there is a person named Sun Xiangzhong, who is his fifth son, and this person is the famous film star Qin Han in Taiwan Province, which can be described as a household name. Qin Han, together with Qin Xianglin, Lin Fengjiao and Lin Qingxia, is known as "Erqin Erlin", has performed hundreds of film works, nearly 30 TV drama works, and is a male star that many people like.
