So this system was passed down, and it was not formally abolished until 1901.
There are about 280 people in history, and the name Zhang Sanjia is the most special one, because he was the last Wu Zhuangyuan in the late Qing Dynasty, that is, the last person to ascend to the top in the wuju system in 1200. After him, the term Wu Zhuangyuan ceased to exist.
Zhang Sanjia was born in 1876, his family was poor, but he had the style of martial arts, so Zhang Sanjia learned martial arts from his father from a young age, and later studied under Yang Guochang, An Wanjie and other famous teachers. He was extremely talented and able to endure hardships, and he became more and more skilled in martial arts, and even Yang Guochang praised: "My disciple Yingmen, only the third rank is rare." ”
Zhang Sanjia learned to become a teacher at the age of 21, so he participated in the township examination in the same year, and indeed won the Zhongwuju. When he participated in the examination, Zhang Sanjia was the most shabby of all the lifters, wearing coarse cloth and shabby clothes, and had no money to give gifts to courtiers, so many people looked down on him. However, a few days before the test, Zhang Sanjia's noble prince Gong Yiqi came to inspect the training ground, and at a glance, he took a fancy to Zhang Sanjia, who was beating a tiger and a tiger, and directly took him under the door.
Sure enough, Zhang Sanjia stood out at the test, a large knife of 180 pounds ran freely in his hands, and under the cold light flash, his body was as light as a swallow, and his momentum was like a rainbow, which was quite a trend of being a husband and wife. The Guangxu Emperor in the palace was extremely satisfied with this, and on the spot, he hand-picked Zhang Sanjia as the wu zhuangyuan of the field, and also allowed him to be a kwa official in the beijing division for three days.
For a time, this poor boy from a cold background became a hot existence, and almost the threshold of the inn where he stayed was broken. Later, the Guangxu Emperor also appointed him as a royal bodyguard and ordered him to take office in the next day.
Three days later, Zhang Sanjia returned to his hometown first, and at this time his wife was about to give birth, which was really a spring breeze. Legend has it that on the day he returned to his hometown, the governor quickly greeted him, and the villagers also erected a bamboo and wood arch for him, and the scene was grand and lively. It is said that Huo Yuanjia, a martial arts celebrity at that time, also came to challenge Zhang Sanjia, but he could not kick him with a few kicks, failed to distinguish between victory and defeat, and finally had to sigh at "hero out of youth".
Since this Wu Zhuangyuan was so skilled, why did he not leave a particularly obvious merit in history? In fact, it is not that Zhang Sanjia finally disappeared from the crowd, but that he contracted a serious illness for unknown reasons not long after returning to his hometown, and died after his wife had just given birth to a child, leaving only Enrong, who was particularly warm, and his wife and children who were grieving, which was really regrettable.
Only two or three years after his death, the imperial court stopped the martial arts forever because "the original bow, sword, stone, horse, and rifle shooting that had been learned had nothing to do with military affairs, and it was useless to apply it today", so Zhang Sanjia, a martial artist who had achieved martial arts attainments but died young, became the last martial artist in Chinese history, and together with this system that had lasted for more than 1200 years, it was slowly annihilated in the development of history.
