Cao Yanhai was born in Lujiayuan Village, Cangxian County, and it is rumored that he is tall and has no less than a thousand pounds of strength in his arms. Not only that, he also knows ancient Chinese, is good at calligraphy, and can be called a complete literary and martial artist.
Since childhood, he loved martial arts, and he had left home alone to learn martial arts in Kunlun Mountain, and later learned boxing from the monk Lian Kuo of cangzhou Baiyi Temple, and during his apprenticeship he smelled chickens dancing and rested at sunset. After practicing hard, he eventually learned a good skill.
In 1928, he came to Nanjing Central Guoshu Museum for further study. At the GuoshuGuan, he wanted to worship Guo Changsheng, who was known as "Guo Yanzi", as a teacher and learn skills. As soon as Guo Changsheng saw him as he was, he wanted to take him as an apprentice. However, the two were of similar age, so Guo chose to "take apprentices on behalf of the teacher", and Cao Yanhai and cao Yanhai were called brothers. In the years that followed, they practiced martial arts, practiced and progressed together every day.

In October 1928, Zhang Jingjiang organized the Zhejiang Guoshu Amusement Conference in Hangzhou. The conference gathered hundreds of martial arts masters. Liu Gaosheng was famous for his martial arts in that era, not only practicing the kung fu of the "Golden Bell Cover" (strong ability to resist blows), but also a unique skill "oil hammer empowerment".
