The inspiration for the Thousand Character Cup originated from the Chinese Enlightenment literature "Thousand Character Text". "Heaven and earth are yellow, the universe is flooded" This is also the first 8 words chosen by designer Xue Leiqi when conceiving and designing.
From the abstract "characterization of the text, to the cultural people", figurative to "with the word as the bone, jade as the tire", the porcelain clay "jade soil" selected by the thousand character cup is warm and transparent. Different from the traditional glazing process, "jade soil" is made of glaze blended with porcelain clay, and after kiln firing, such as the fixed lotus flowers converge on the sharp edge, presenting a seamless and tight texture visual effect. Holding it is like a muscle like a jade warm.

"Words Are Not Interesting"
After working, he edited the book "Character Fun WeiYang" with his mentor Chen Yuanchuan. In the process of combing and learning the structure of Chinese characters in detail, Xue Leiqi found that Chinese characters have countless ways of artistic creation, so he decided to make Chinese characters into a teacup.
To make different cups with different Chinese characters, we must first give the theme and meaning of the design, and limit the font library to reduce the input of mold production. In the end, Schleicher chose the Mongolian classic "Thousand Character Text" as the theme of the cup design.
Try with choice
When conceiving the product, Xue Leiqi used the text as the bottom of the special-shaped cup, and designed the shape of the Chinese character cup based on the shape of the tapered candle, the geographical high line, and the dry landscape.
In order to maintain the balance of the center of gravity of the Chinese character cup, the outline of the cup body is diffracted upwards from the text at the bottom of the cup, and the shape of the diffraction is always centrally symmetrical. In this way, the balance of the cup will not be affected by the unequal structure of the left and right sounds of chinese characters.

In order to make the "character" of the "Thousand Character Cup" clear at a glance, Schleich used Chinese characters, monochrome, and simplified designs of calligraphy. At the beginning of production, Schleicher also tried other fonts such as imitation Song and black body, but in his view, the ceramics are elegant and elegant, more compatible with the script, the simplified characters are more contemporary, and the monochrome is to highlight the theme of the text.
The "thousand-word cup" is created by subtraction in order to achieve an effect that can be understood without any explanation. The transmission of value has never relied on "many".
Attitude and direction
In order to maintain the visual effect of the text at the bottom of the "Thousand Character Cup", the "Thousand Character Cup" does not use glaze color or underglaze color like traditional ceramic products, because the glazed fired ceramic will be knotted with a thin glass on the surface, and the font will lose its edges and corners.
