Most VR content is produced in Unity or Unreal, the latter being the work of Fortnite creator Epic Games. Unreal Engine is sometimes the engine of choice for some of the larger game projects, and Epic's CEO Tim Sweeney is one of the biggest proponents of the so-called "metaverse" concept.

Hand tracking is an auxiliary control system on the Quest 2 (meaning the hardware isn't optimized for it), but it may change on future Meta headsets, and your hand, which is gesturing outdoors, may become the primary control system.

This means that Meta needs to let developers build more applications to handle hand tracking, and this latest release represents a series of examples published by Facebook (now Meta) to show how developers can use the system to support more stable interactions. So, for Unreal developers, this sample project contains reusable components based on a more powerful hand tracking mechanism from First Steps with Hand Tracking and Tiny Castles.

Meta even released the source code for the hand-tracked interactive display in Oculus Showcase Unreal to Github.
