The "National Cancer Center South Branch" will be located in Shenzhen
It is worth mentioning that the "Southern Branch of the National Cancer Center" will be officially unveiled at the opening ceremony of the conference.
Relying on the Shenzhen Hospital of the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the Southern Branch Center will play a leading role in the promotion of cancer prevention and control technology and health science popularization in South China, the construction of tumor registration and tumor resource platform, the exploration of cancer prevention and treatment service models, and the improvement of regional comprehensive cancer prevention and treatment service capabilities.
The National Cancer Center has always cared, helped and supported shenzhen's health and health undertakings.
Since 2017, the National Cancer Center has fully supported the construction and development of the Shenzhen Hospital of the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, promoted the landing of major public health special urban cancer early diagnosis and early treatment projects in Shenzhen, and the Southern Branch of the National Malignant Tumor Clinical Medical Research Center was listed in Shenzhen.
The inauguration of the Southern Branch of the National Cancer Center is a major measure for the National Cancer Center to help Shenzhen further consolidate the foundation of cancer prevention and control and effectively improve the health level of the people.
Lung cancer is the "first killer" of Shenzhen cancer list
Projects such as the Southern Branch of the National Cancer Center have landed in Shenzhen, which will have an immediate help for the prevention and control of tumors of Shenzhen residents.
According to the 2020 Shenzhen New Malignant Tumor Ranking released by the Shenzhen Chronic Disease Prevention and Control Center, a total of 30,808 new malignant tumors were reported by the resident population of Shenzhen in 2020, an increase of 2,079 cases over the previous year, an increase of 7.24%. Based on 365 days a year, an average of 84 new cases are issued per day, and more than 3 cases per hour.
From the perspective of incidence, the most new malignant tumors are lung cancer, followed by thyroid cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer and liver cancer.
Among the new cases, there are more women than men, and there are 16,518 female patients, and the most new cases are thyroid cancer, followed by breast, lung, colorectal and cervical cancers. Of the 14,290 male patients, the most new ones were lung cancer, followed by colorectal, liver, thyroid and stomach cancers.
In order to cope with the severe situation of tumor incidence in Shenzhen, since 2016, the National Cancer Center has promoted the "Early Diagnosis and Early Treatment of Urban Cancer" project in Shenzhen, and carried out free screening for residents for the five "key cancers" with the highest incidence in China - lung cancer, liver cancer, upper gastrointestinal cancer, colorectal cancer and breast cancer.
The permanent population of Shenzhen with household registration or living in Shenzhen for more than 3 years, aged 40-74, can go to the city's 259 social welfare centers to register for free screening. If it is assessed as a "high-risk group", it can be further examined in 14 designated hospitals such as Shenzhen Hospital of Cancer Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University.
Cancer is not a terminal illness, it is just a chronic disease
If cancer is detected, it does not mean the "end of the world", cancer is no longer a terminal disease.
As early as 1981, the World Health Organization proposed that cancer should be regarded as a chronic disease. According to WHO data, 1/3 of cancers can be prevented, 1/3 of cancers can be cured through early detection, and the remaining 1/3, although not curable, can also be controlled through appropriate treatment and a better quality of life can be obtained, thereby prolonging survival.
The key to dealing with cancer is early detection, so that it can be diagnosed and treated early.
At present, there are already effective screening methods for some specific cancer species. Cancer screening programs recognized worldwide include cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, and colorectal cancer screening. As long as it is a healthy person who meets the screening criteria, participating in these cancer screenings can prevent it from occurring before it occurs.
Some high-risk groups can also be screened for cancer, such as low-dose spiral CT screening for lung cancer, gastroscopy screening for upper gastrointestinal cancer, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) detection combined with B ultrasound screening for liver cancer, EBV detection combined with nasopharyngeal microscopy for nasopharyngeal cancer, etc.
