Hong Kong's unemployment rate continued to fall to 4.1% from September to November

Hong Kong, 16 Dec (Xinhua) -- The latest labor population statistics released by the Census and Statistics Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on the 16th show that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell from 4.3% in August-October 2021 to 4.1% in September-November 2021.

Statistics show that the underemployment rate also fell from 1.9% in August-October 2021 to 1.8% in September-November 2021. The total number of people employed increased from 3.6665 million in August-October 2021 to 3.6733 million from September to November 2021, an increase of about 6,800.

Between September and November, unemployment rates in Hong Kong's major economic sectors fell. In terms of unemployment, there were relatively significant declines in the construction industry and retail, accommodation and catering services.

The Secretary for Labour and Welfare of the HKSAR Government, Mr Law Chi-kwong, said that during this period, the Consumption Voucher Scheme had stimulated consumer sentiment and spending.
