There is a story in the "New Language of the World" that wang Xianzhi was seriously ill and repented before his death, and the other party asked him to recall what was wrong in this life, and his answer was:
I don't feel that there is anything left, but I remember divorcing the Xi family.
Nothing else, just that I don't think I should divorce Xi Daomao.

Since he was so affectionate, why did Wang Xianzhi divorce Xi Daomao?
Some people say that this is related to the change in the relationship between the Wang and Xi families, and some people say that this is because of the emergence of Sima Daofu.
Sima Daofu was the daughter of Sima Yu, the Emperor of Jianwen, who was also the Princess of Xin'an.
She first married Huanji, but then Huanji had signs of rebellion, so the two left.
After the divorce, Sima Daofu fell in love with Wang Xianzhi, of course, this may not be love.
Wang Xianzhi also resisted, and Yu Gong said in the "Table for Jiang Xue to Let Princess Shang" that "Zi Jing Moxibustion is enough to violate the disaster", that is, Wang Xianzhi injured his leg in order to escape marriage.
Wang Xianzhi tried to escape as a disabled person, but Sima Daofu said, I also want you to be disabled.
The unfortunate Wang Xianzhi left a sick root afterwards, and it is said that his death was also related to this.
Incidentally, Sima Daofu and Wang Xianzhi had a daughter, Wang Shen'ai.
Wang Shen'ai eventually married back into the imperial family and became the empress dowager of Sima Dezong, the Emperor of Jin'an.

Peach leaves
In addition to Xi Daomao and Sima Daofu' two wives, Wang Xianzhi also had a concubine named Taoye.
People guess that perhaps Wang Xianzhi and Sima Daofu were unhappy, which led to such an affair.
It is said that Wang Xianzhi liked peach leaves very much and wrote "Peach Leaf Song" for her.
Later, the "Peach Leaf Song" became a title of Lefu poems and was very popular in the Southern Dynasty.
The Song Dynasty Guo Maoqian's Lefu Poetry Collection contains four Peach Leaf Songs, two of which are like this:

But there is no pain in crossing, and I greet ru by myself.

The storm was impermanent, and there was no life to cross the river south.
Some people say that this is the original work of Wang Xianzhi, writing the story of him waiting for peach leaves by the river, so there is a so-called "peach leaf ferry" in later generations.
In "Dream of the Red Chamber", Xue Baoqin wrote a poem "Peach Leaf Crossing Huaigu":
The fading grass flowers reflect the shallow pond, and the peach branches and peach leaves are always separated.
