Duan Yunpeng was born in 1904 in Xujiazhuang, Ji County, Hebei Province, and was the fourth oldest in his family. At the age of 16, he ran away from home and ran to Baoding to join the Zhilu coalition army as a soldier. He had a rough temperament, was as strong as an ox, and learned some martial arts in the army, and was very good at fighting, so at the age of 23, he was promoted to a captain and an aide-de-camp and became a recruit teacher.
Later, the troops were absorbed by Song Zheyuan, and Duan Yunpeng could not continue in the army, returned to Beiping, worshiped the famous rogue "Swallow Li San" as a teacher, practiced light body skills, and learned a lot of flying cornices and wall skills, known as "Sai Tanuki Cat".
Although he often steals chickens and dogs, and can get away with it, causing everyone to grit their teeth, there is a theft case that makes people clap their hands. It was during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression that Duan Yunpeng and Japanese agents had some conflicts, and did not dare to resist in person, so they sneaked into the residence of Japanese Commander-in-Chief Okamura Ningji late at night to steal, stealing a pistol, a gold watch, two golden Buddhas, and tens of thousands of dollars.
Gangcun Ningci lost face, gritting his teeth in anger but unable to kill Duan Yunpeng, because he had already fled all night, coming and going without a trace, and could only break his teeth and swallow blood.
In 1946, such a capable thief was recruited by Gu Zhengwen, who was then the head of the Beiping Special Working Group, and recruited him as a lieutenant correspondent of the fourth group of the Beiping Station of the Military Command Bureau, responsible for collecting information on our underground party and finding out the suspects.
In 1947, with the help of the United States, the Kuomintang arranged more than ten jeeps to detect radio stations day and night every day, and one day found that there was a difference in The radio signal in Peiping, but it was impossible to get a specific location, so he sent Duan Yunpeng and ordered him to leap to the commanding heights at five o'clock in the morning every day to observe that a certain household would turn on the lights at six o'clock every day and closely monitor the activities in his house.
After a period of observation, Duan Yunpeng found that the antenna at No. 24 Suncheonfu East Street was different from other homes, two thick and strong pillars, and the man of the house got up at six o'clock every morning to wash up, turn on the radio, and put on headphones.
Duan Yunpeng reported this anomaly to his superiors, and the next day the Kuomintang sent people to surround and suppress the mansion, and followed the vine to find a melon, arresting many underground parties.
On the eve of the peaceful liberation of Peiping in 1949, Gu Zhengwen again sent Duan Yunpeng to assassinate He Siyuan, who was the mayor of Peiping at the time, and prevent them from leaving the city to hand over. Duan Yunpeng planned to sneak into the He Mansion late at night, open the gate widely, and let the agents disguised as scattered soldiers and brave soldiers come in, disguised as a burglary and robbery, and seek wealth and death.
Unexpectedly, when he was climbing over the wall, he found that some comrades of our party had come to inform He Siyuan to be careful of the embankment, and he had to go back to the long-term plan first, and Gu Zhengwen also considered that the hasty murder would affect their plan to flee south, so he asked Duan Yunpeng to take the bomb and blow up the mansion. In the end, He Siyuan's second daughter was killed, and the rest of the people were only slightly injured, but this strengthened He Siyuan's determination, although the day of leaving the city was delayed by one day, but Peiping was peacefully liberated.
After liberation, Duan Yunpeng fled to Taiwan, and by 1951, Duan Yunpeng had returned to the mainland several times to engage in espionage activities In 1954, Duan Yunpeng once again prepared to infiltrate the mainland, and was finally captured by the public security task force and executed 13 years later.
