Chiang Kai-shek heard that after Ma Bufang went to Saudi Arabia, the Saudi king also invited him to dinner, thinking that Ma Bufang had a deep friendship with the Saudi king, so in August 1957, he appointed Ma Bufang as the "ambassador" to Saudi Arabia.
With power in his hands again, Ma Bufang suddenly changed his previous attitude towards idle life and began to act as a blessing again. At that time, many overseas Chinese in Saudi Arabia made a living by sewing clothes and hats, and when Ma Bufang found out, he bought all the sewing machines and forced his compatriots to buy them from him at a high price.
He also seized the passports of many expatriates who had come only to make pilgrimages and did whatever they wanted.
Ma Bufang, the ambassador, was also jokingly called the "illiterate ambassador", because he could not understand the various documents issued to him by the nationalist military government, nor did he ask anyone to ask, and when he needed to deal with it, he drew a circle on it, and then threw it to his subordinates for handling, without asking about follow-up.
A person who does not even bother to understand the language and language of his own country, of course, is not interested in learning foreign languages, Ma Bufang, as an "ambassador", never participates in diplomatic activities, and even does not appear in Saudi Arabia's National Day activities, spending all day in his mansion and ignoring diplomatic matters.
