Nanning, 16 Dec (Xinhua) -- On 15 December, the Binyang County People's Court in Nanning City, Guangxi Province, held a public trial and pronounced a verdict on the case of 23 defendants suspected of illegally crossing the border.

The court trial found that in early 2021, defendant Lin Mou illegally profited and carried out criminal activities to help others sneak across the national border. In April 2021, defendant Lin's criminal gang organized and transported 11 people, including defendant Xie, to Vietnam. After the Binyang County Court held a trial, the case was pronounced in court in the afternoon of the same day. The court sentenced Lin and five other defendants to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from five to 10 years and fines ranging from 30,000 to 50,000 yuan for the crime of organizing others to sneak across the national border. For the crime of transporting others to illegally cross the border, Li Mou and seven other defendants were sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment ranging from three years to four years and six months, and fined between 10,000 and 25,000 yuan. Xie and 11 other defendants were convicted of smuggling across the border and were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 10 months to 11 months and fined between 5,000 yuan and 8,000 yuan.
According to the Nanning Intermediate People's Court, since 2020, the courts at the two levels in Nanning City have concluded 61 cases of 203 people in three types of crimes that hinder the management of the national (border) border, reflecting the court's zero-tolerance attitude towards such criminal acts and demonstrating the position and determination to maintain the order of the national (border) border management and help prevent and control the epidemic.
