It is not only the main gate of the imperial city of Beijing during the Ming and Qing dynasties, but also because of its special political status, it has always attracted the attention of the world. But after the fall of the Qing Dynasty, Tiananmen Was once defeated and became dilapidated. After the founding of New China, Tiananmen Square was rebuilt, which restored its former glory. And just as Tiananmen was being rebuilt, an interesting thing happened. A craftsman discovers a mysterious box when uncovering the glazed tiles on the roof of a castle tower. So what's in this box? Originally named "Chengtianmen", Tiananmen Was designed by The Ming Dynasty's imperial craftsman Qu Xiang. After Ascending the throne as emperor, Ming Chengzu Zhu Di moved the capital from Nanjing to Beijing during the Yongle period. Because Ku Xiang completely imitated the Nanjing Chengtian Gate when designing, Tiananmen was named "Chengtian Gate" after its completion, and the plaque of "Chengtian Gate" was hung high in the middle of the archway. In the seventeenth year of Ming Chongzhen, Li Zicheng, the king of the invasion, attacked the gates of Beijing, and when he entered the city from the Chengtian Gate, he saw the word "Chengtian" and became angry, so he destroyed the Chengtianmen in a rage.
After the Shunzhi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty entered the Central Plains, he ordered a large-scale reconstruction on the ruins of the original site and renamed it "Tiananmen". It means "ordained by heaven, and governed by peace". During the Kangxi Dynasty, Tiananmen Square also underwent two large-scale repairs. On the eve of the founding of New China, because the founding ceremony was held in Tiananmen, a large-scale renovation was carried out on Tiananmen square and Tiananmen Square to welcome the world with a new look. Since then, China has successively renovated Tiananmen, including connecting the handrails of the Great Wall door railings and installing lightning rods on the top.
In 1966, affected by the Xingtai earthquake, some of the structures in the Tiananmen Tower were damaged, and some beams and columns began to tilt. At that time, the government reinforced this part of the damaged structure, knotted the inclined part, and added iron hoops. In 1969, in order to completely solve the hidden dangers left by the Tiananmen Tower for hundreds of years, the government decided to demolish the old city tower and rebuild the Tiananmen Tower according to its original scale and architectural form.
While the workers were working, they found a box of golden silk and nan wood under the glazed tiles of the Tiananmen Tower. In this box was a gold dollar, a piece of cinnabar stone, and some multicolored grain. At this time, people learned that this was originally the treasure of the town tower of Tiananmen. Because of superstition, the ancients usually put some things to ward off evil spirits to pray for peace when building things. This traditional architectural habit is also the first time that many experts have seen it. A few months later, when the Tiananmen Tower was rebuilt, experts put a piece of White Jade jade in its original location with the inscription "Reconstructed from January to March 1970." The previous "treasure of the town building" was sent to the museum collection.
