Poland confirmed that the first case of infection of "Omikejon" in the Chinese mainland was of Polish nationality

According to Reuters and the Associated Press, on December 14, local time, the Polish Ministry of Health confirmed that a Polish woman who flew from Warsaw to China last week was tested positive for the new coronavirus "Omikron" variant in China. This is the first time that a case of "Omiljung" infection has been detected in Chinese mainland, and before that, a case of "Omiljun" infection has been detected in Hong Kong, China.

Wojciech Andrusiewicz, a spokesman for the Polish Ministry of Health, said a Polish teenage female tested positive for the "Omikeron" variant in China. The woman was isolated in hospital and showed no symptoms of infection and was not life-threatening.

Andrew Szević said the girl tested negative for COVID-19 before leaving Warsaw on Dec. 6, but test results after arriving in China showed infection with "Omikron," which was confirmed again by a second test on December 13.

Andrew Sević also said that a crew member of the plane of LOT Polish Airlines, on which the girl was travelling, also tested positive for the new crown virus, but it was unclear whether it was a case of "Omikron" infection.

According to the Polish Radio reporter in Beijing, the LOT Polish Airlines plane returned to Poland with empty seats.

It is reported that Poland has not reported any cases of "Omi kerong" infection.

"Tianjin Daily" previously said that the reporter learned from the Tianjin Municipal Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters on December 13 that the Tianjin Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention carried out the whole genome sequencing and sequence analysis of the new coronavirus on the respiratory specimens of asymptomatic infected people imported from outside Tianjin on December 9, and after review by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, it was confirmed that the New Coronavirus Omiljung variant (B.1.1.529 evolutionary branch) was detected. It is reported that this is the first time that Chinese mainland has found a variant of the new coronavirus "Omi kerong".

The English edition of the Global Times earlier reported that the first case of "Omi kerong" infection in Chinese mainland was a Pole who arrived in Tianjin from Warsaw.
