Precise treatment of growth deviations

Over the years, Zhengda Fifth Affiliated Hospital has established a relatively perfect management system and work process in early childhood development and rare diseases, through long-term and dynamic monitoring, summarizing the outcome of different growth and development deviations and the effects of different intervention time and means, providing feasible operating procedures and solutions for various situations, reducing the occurrence of serious sequelae, saving medical resources for governments and medical institutions, and reducing economic burdens for families and society.

Tang Youcai introduced that the hospital carries out all-round and high-level health care for children, and common growth and development problems such as abnormal muscle tone, short stature, childhood obesity, and precocious puberty can be diagnosed and guided by experts with senior technical titles in relevant professions.

It is worth mentioning that the multidisciplinary joint outpatient clinic of adolescence opened by zhengda fifth affiliated hospital includes adolescent health care, abnormal puberty development and related endocrine diseases, adolescent psychological problems and adolescent physiological health problems. They will regularly hold lectures for adolescent students and carry out popular science education in adolescent medicine.

On November 17, 2020, the inauguration ceremony of the National Genetic Testing Technology Application Demonstration Center & Henan Rare Disease Genetic Testing and Precision Medicine Engineering Technology Research Center jointly held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center was successfully held. Tang Youcai introduced that the center is a provincial-level engineering technology research center approved for construction by relying on the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zheng University. His main responsibilities are to research rare disease gene detection and precision treatment, promote the application of gene sequencing in rare disease screening, and accelerate the popularization of gene sequencing in the field of rare diseases. It is committed to building a scientific research platform for genetic testing and precision treatment of rare diseases, striving to build the center into an incubator for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the field of rare diseases and precision medicine, a scientific research and development base with a high level, a high level and a high starting point inside and outside the United Nations, strengthening the output of scientific and technological achievements, enhancing the ability of scientific and technological innovation, and gradually making the engineering center a scientific research and innovation base with advanced experimental conditions and a high management level.

For the protection of children's liver experts actively carry out international academic exchanges

In 2018, At the invitation of Professor Jeffrey Teckman, director of the Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center at Saint Louis University and an internationally renowned expert in pediatric gastroenterology, Tang Youcai went to St. Louis University for academic exchanges on the research, diagnosis and treatment of children's alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency.

While in the United States, he visited Professor Jeffrey Teckman's lab and had an in-depth discussion about the latest advances in alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (A1ATD). Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency is an autosomal recessive disorder that can lead to neonatal hepatitis, cirrhosis in infants and adults, and even hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which often requires liver transplant treatment, seriously affecting the health level of humans.

Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency is a recognized genetic disorder with a poor prognosis and a lack of effective treatment. Only inhibition or elimination of aggregation of the A1AT mutant Z protein can alleviate or treat liver disease associated with A1ATD. On the basis of the previous work, Professor Tang Youcai and Professor Jeffrey Teckman signed a continuing cooperation agreement to study the elimination of A1AT mutation Z protein accumulation by autophagy, improve the role of α1-antitrypsin deficiency, and provide a new idea for the clinical research and treatment of α1-antitrypsin deficiency liver disease.

At the end of 2018, the Science and Technology Department of Henan Province issued the Notice on Agreeing to Build the 2018 Henan Provincial International Joint Laboratory (Yu Kewai [2018] No. 19), relying on the "Henan Provincial Chronic Liver Injury International Joint Laboratory" built by the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zhengda University to obtain the approval of the Department of Science and Technology for project construction.

The approval of the construction of the international joint laboratory is inseparable from the long-term efforts of the experts of the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Zheng University.
