Fu Baoshi, Qian Songkun, Song Wenzhi, Wei Zixi, and Yaming are outstanding representatives of the New Jinling School, and the "Jiangsu Chinese Painting Working Group" with the five of them as the main body created the feat of 23,000 miles of sketching across six provinces in the early 1960s, which not only realized the proposition of using Chinese painting as an ancient painting genre to reflect the real life of the new era, but also realized the rich development of Chinese brush and ink language with the times.

In the early 1960s, Fu Baoshi led Jiangsu painters to make travel sketches for more than 23,000 miles, and the "New Appearance of Mountains and Rivers Exhibition" held thereafter was influenced by the painting world, and the Jiangsu art group he led was known as the new "Jinling School". His works are also more passionate, imposing, and full of the atmosphere of the times.
