Recently, with the completion and operation of Xinjiang's first electric vehicle V2G (vehicle to grid) charging station in Urumqi Degang Wanda Business District, this idea has become a reality in the capital.

On December 12, the reporter learned from the State Grid Urumqi Power Supply Company that the charging station is a large-scale charging station invested and built this year. The charging station adopts V2G charging and orderly charging technology, equipped with 8 sets of 60 kW DC V2G charging piles and 3 sets of 60 kW DC orderly charging piles, which can meet the charging needs of 11 electric vehicles at the same time.

It is understood that V2G charging significantly improves the charging efficiency of vehicles, which can be fully charged in 1 hour.

Mu Chenyu, special director of the integrated energy department of the marketing department of the State Grid Urumqi Power Supply Company, introduced that V2G refers to the relationship between electric vehicles and the interaction of the power grid, which allows electric vehicles to absorb electric energy when the grid load is low, and release electrical energy when the power grid load is high, innovating the energy consumption experience and helping to achieve the goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality".

Charging is equivalent to "buying electricity", and transmitting electricity to the grid is equivalent to "selling electricity". "It's equivalent to turning an electric car into a 'mobile charging treasure.'" For example, when the power grid needs electric vehicles to participate in peak shaving, the owner can choose to charge during the trough period, sell electricity during the peak period, and according to the peak-valley electricity price difference, there can be a certain income every day. Mu Chenyu said that V2G has made efforts in the win-win situation of new energy vehicle companies, power supply companies and car owners to help the construction of the capital's green transportation system.

In addition, "after the charging station is put into use, it is expected to provide 3,000 charging services and generate 80,000 kWh of charging power per year, which can reduce fuel consumption by 32,000 liters and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 76,000 kilograms per year compared with fuel vehicles." Mu Chenyu said.

Up to now, Urumqi has built a total of 15 charging stations for the society (based on more than 10 charging piles), 1 replacement power station, 338 personal charging piles, 137 social charging piles, and 81 State Grid charging piles, basically meeting the charging needs of new energy vehicle owners in the capital.
