1. Pinglu Rebellion

The strong strength of the fanzhen was always the emperor's concern, especially after the Anshi rebellion, the Tang Dynasty could not interfere in the affairs between the fanzhen, so the fanzhen became a thorn in the emperor's eye.

After Tang Muzong ascended the throne, because the national treasury was relatively tight, he decided to cut down the army and cut down the number of people and horses from all over the country, including fan towns.

However, since the reduction of men and horses, those who were not in the army would receive a lot of rewards, but the treasury was a little tense, which caused Lu Long and ChengDe Jiedu to be dissatisfied with the imperial court, so they decided to launch a rebellion.

The two feudal towns that originally belonged to the Tang Dynasty broke away from the Tang Dynasty under the leadership of Jiedushi Zhu Kerong and Wang Tingzhuo, and rebelled.

Closer to these two feudal towns was the Pinglu Jiedushi, because the Tang Dynasty cut soldiers, coupled with the benefits of cutting them, the soldiers of Pinglu became more and more dissatisfied with the imperial court, and soon after they rebelled with the generals of Pinglu, and there were more than 7,000 people who rebelled here.

For this reason, Pinglu Jiedu made Xue Ping report to the imperial court and prepare to put down the rebellion, but because the imperial court had no money, the soldiers did not agree to the reduced living expenses, and Xue Ping could only take out his own money and silk to appease the soldiers, which stabilized the army and defeated the generals of Pinglu.

2. Fight between the open and the dark

Wave after wave of unrest, Pinglu's rebellion has just been put down, but the troops sent by the imperial court to recruit Chengde and Lu Long have also had problems, and the problem is the same, that is, military pay.

When he saw Lu Long and Chengde rebelling, the emperor decided to send troops to Tian Bu, who was one of the three major feudal towns, Wei Bo Jiedushi, and Tian Bu's soldiers were many and strong, so if he sent Tian Bu forward, he would definitely be able to quell the rebellion.

However, the ensuing problem of military pay became a problem, because the imperial court had no money, and it was necessary to lead the soldiers to fight, so there was no way, Tian Bu could only use Wei Bo's military salary to pay the soldiers.

At this time, Wei Bo's soldiers were not satisfied, and went out to fight for the imperial court, and the imperial court did not give money, but they did not expect to pay for it themselves, so many of Wei Bo's soldiers did not agree.

At this time, The general Shi Xiancheng under Tian Bu took the opportunity to instigate the soldiers in the army to also rebel. Shi Xiancheng was originally a subordinate of Tian Bu, but because Tian Bu gave Wei Bo's military power to Shi Xiancheng, which resulted in Shi Xiancheng's ambitions, he wanted to become an envoy of Jiedu and remove Tian Bu from his horse, so that he could replace him.

However, Tian Bu could not easily pull down the horse, so Shi Xiancheng had no chance.

Now the imperial court had no money and wanted to quell the rebellion, so Tang Muzong constantly urged Tian Bu to send troops. However, this time was winter, there was no military salary, the military spirit was unstable, but it was going to be sent to fight the rebellious army, Wei Bo's soldiers did not agree, and at this time Shi Xiancheng once again instigated, making Wei Bo's military heart more inclined to rebellion.

At this time, Tian Bu was urged by the emperor to have no way, so he decided to hold a meeting, but his men believed that if Tian Bu rebelled, they swore to follow to the death, but if they put down the rebellion, they would not.

3. Hebei split

But Tian Bu was not the one who wanted to rebel, he remembered that the Tang Dynasty was good to him, but now Wei Bo's people did not want to send troops, and Tian Bu, who was caught in the middle of the dilemma, finally chose to commit suicide.

Before dying, he also left a suicide note, saying that he was deeply loved by His Majesty, but he did not argue and failed His Majesty, so he could only apologize for his death, hoping that His Majesty would not implicate others of Wei Bo, and there were many talented people in Wei Bo, and after his death, he hoped that His Majesty could reuse them.

As soon as Tian Bu died, Shi Xiancheng felt that his opportunity had come, so he became Wei Bo's emissary with the support of Wei Bo's people, and Tang Muzong was no longer faint and incompetent, and he also knew that if he opposed, it would lead to Wei Bo's rebellion, so he could only admit that Shi Xiancheng became Wei Bo's emissary.

After Shi Xiancheng came to power, he secretly colluded with the two feudal towns of Chengde and Lulong, so that Wei Bo's clan towns were no longer bound by the emperor and under the jurisdiction of the imperial court as before.

This matter was known to the emperor, but the emperor did not dare to send troops to requisition, after all, the treasury was empty now, the use of military money was tense, and Tang Muzong was also worried that he had forced Wei Bo to be anxious, in case they rebelled, it would cause greater turmoil, so Tang Muzong could only open one eye and close one eye.

However, this also fostered Shi Xiancheng's ambitions, so Wei Bo, Cheng De, and Lu Long were completely separated from the imperial court and were no longer subject to the control of the imperial court.
