Zha Maode (1919-1947), a native of Huoshan County, Anhui Province. He joined the Red Army in 1931. He joined the Communist Party of China in Xikang in 1932. He successively served as a soldier, squad leader, platoon leader and company commander of the Northwest Anhui Defense Bureau, secretary of the Youth League Committee of the 88th Division of the 30th Army of the Red Fourth Front, and staff officer of the General Headquarters of the Red Fourth Front. He participated in the Long March of the Red Army with his troops. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan, he served as a staff officer of the first section of the headquarters of the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army. Later, he was promoted to the chief of the second section of the headquarters of the Ji'nan Military Region. In April 1939, he was appointed political commissar of the Special Service Brigade of the Third Military Sub-district of the Ji'nan Military Region. In the spring of 1940, he was ordered to collect local armed forces in the area of Daming and Wei County, and was appointed deputy commander of the second anti-Japanese guerrilla detachment in southern Hebei. In August, the second detachment was reorganized into the 26th Regiment of the New Ninth Brigade of the 129th Division, serving as deputy regimental commander and participating in the Battle of the Hundred Regiments. In 1942, he was appointed commander of the 13th Regiment. In an anti-"sweep", in the case of ammunition shortage, he led his troops to fight with the Japanese army for three days and three nights, and finally won victory. He was a pioneer, brave and good at war, and was commended many times. After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he served as the deputy brigade commander of the Independent Brigade of the Hebei-Luyu Military Region. Because he was wounded in battle, he had shrapnel on his head and was blind in one eye, and the organization arranged for him to recuperate. In March 1947, the main force of the Jinji-Hebei Luyu Field Army launched the Northern Henan Campaign, and he took the initiative to fight despite his wounds and illness. In May, while commanding troops in Anyang, he was unfortunately shot and died heroically.
