On December 3rd, a Qinzhou Municipal Scientific Research and Technology Development Program Project of the General Surgery Department of our hospital successfully passed the acceptance of "Intervention Research on Nursing Measures for Liver Cancer-related Sarcopenia". Qinzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau organized relevant experts to conduct a meeting and acceptance of the project, and the project leader was Zhang Xiumei, deputy chief nurse of major surgery. At the meeting, Nurse Zhang Xiumei introduced and reported on the research of the project in detail.
Sarcopenia, also known as "skeletal muscle aging" and "oligomyosis", is a syndrome caused by continuous loss of skeletal muscle mass, decreased skeletal muscle strength, and abnormal skeletal muscle function, which has a greater impact on the quality of life of patients, and is the most common in cirrhosis of the liver, with an incidence rate of about 30% to 70%, which is a risk factor for adverse prognosis of liver cancer. Surgery is the preferred treatment for liver cancer, and concomitant hypomyopathy affects the survival prognosis of surgical treatment, including increasing the probability of infection, prolonging hospital stay, inducing hepatic encephalopathy and tumor recurrence. In order to improve the prognosis of patients with liver cancer, corresponding nursing interventions are carried out before surgery for patients with reduced muscle disease, including strict dietary nutritional support therapy and gradual exercise. The results showed that preoperative nursing intervention for patients with oligomyopathy could effectively reduce the occurrence of postoperative infection, better improve the nutritional status and muscle strength of patients, improve the quality of life of patients, and shorten the hospitalization time and reduce hospitalization costs. The relevant data results have published two professional papers and formed two national model utility patents.
The findings of this project suggest that the prognosis of surgery in patients with liver cancer can be improved and the financial burden on patients can be reduced by providing appropriate nutritional support and resistance exercise interventions. The results of the study have formed a set of practical and feasible nursing measures for patients with liver cancer with sarcopenia, which is worthy of clinical promotion and use, and has certain economic and social benefits. After listening to the report of the project leader, the expert group unanimously agreed to pass the acceptance.
