"Zhou Song Feng Nian" is a poem in the Book of Poetry, the first collection of poetry in ancient China. This is a musical poem of the Zhou people celebrating the fengfeng year of the gods. The beginning of the poem reports on the harvest and indicates that the wine brewed with grain is offered as a sign of repaying the ancestors and hoping that the ancestors will be blessed more. The whole poem has only one chapter and seven sentences in total. The first three sentences write about the state of the harvest year, which refers to the dynamics of the farmer's long-term toil in the static of the harvest year; the last four sentences write that the fruits of the harvest are sacrificed to the gods because of the harvest, in order to express gratitude and pray for the blessing of the gods. This poem mainly uses the method of assignment, and the language is concise and simple.
The beginning of this poem is very distinctive. It depicts a harvest scene, a lot of grain, a tall barn where grain is stored, plus abstract and incalculable numbers. These static convergence into a spectacular harvest scene is naturally to show the strength of the Western Zhou Dynasty, and through the static, it shows the dynamics of the hundreds of millions of farmers who have worked hard for many years. However, in the view of the Zhou royal family, the hard-won harvest is both a human affair and a providential one, the so-called "planning is in the people, the success is in the heavens", the harvest is ultimately a gift from heaven, so the second half of the poem is to thank the heavens.
