A thousand-year-old tomb, experts searched for 10 years without success, and the old man broke the mystery with one word

Nowadays, there is no longer a figure of tomb robbers, but the archaeological atmosphere is prevalent, in this case, many excellent archaeologists gradually appear in front of the eyes of the world, Wang Kai is one of them. The story to be explained below is the story of Wang Kai's search for the seventh tomb of the King of Chu, and he is also famous for it.

In the past 22 years, the famous archaeologist Wang Kai has found 7 tombs of the Chu kings with a shovel. The tomb of the Chu king he found shook the world, and his name was written into the Who's Who of the World's Intellectuals in Cambridge, England.

After discovering the 6 tombs of the Chu kings, he had profound knowledge, rich experience and keen sense, which made him make a distinctive voice: "These terracotta warriors are not isolated, there must be a noble master nearby, and he is not an ordinary military general... There must be a large tomb of a Chu king near the Terracotta Warriors, and if I am not mistaken, it is likely that a Chu king from the early Western Han Dynasty was buried there. ”

But he never found it, and decades of searching cost hundreds of thousands. Until one day... An old man said that in the early years, there were large piles of gravel, and the people did not need to open the mountain to take the stones to sell. Wang Kai deduced that the rubble was left over from the time when the ancients dug a tomb here, so Wang Kai led everyone to carry out the exploration work.

However, there are hundreds of residents on the south side of the main peak, and it is impossible to demolish all the houses to dig plum blossom piles.

In December 1984, Wang Kai discovered more than 4,000 pieces of Painted Terracotta Warriors and Horses of the Western Han Dynasty, which had been buried underground for more than 2,000 years! This determines the location of the tomb, but the question arises again, where is the entrance? For this reason, Wang Kai spent a long time.

Then, from the local farmer's saying that "there used to be an old house on the mountain with a red taro cellar", he sensitively sniffed the information of the "tomb", because if there is a cellar on the mountain, then the soil layer must be very deep, and there is only one explanation, that is, "tomb soil"... Thus, a sensational underground treasure was discovered.

In November 1994, the Xuzhou municipal government spent a huge amount of money to relocate more than 130 households and began excavating the tombs of the Chu kings.

At the entrance to the cemetery, they cleaned up a funerary tomb. The discovery of a funerary tomb at the entrance of a straight tomb is the first time in the country. The seal worn by the deceased unearthed in it is engraved with the words "Seal of the Food Officer", indicating that this person is the official responsible for the meal of the tomb owner.

The tomb is composed of tomb passages, patios, side chambers, coffin chambers and funerary tombs, and is the largest and most abundant tomb excavated in Xuzhou. However, the tomb has not yet been completed according to the original design requirements, so there are many traces of the interior that have been left to be completed.

The grand Xuan Palace almost hollowed out the mountain, and the enormity of the project and the majesty of the momentum were really rare. It is certain that this is a very large mausoleum of the Chu kings of the Western Han Dynasty.

The tombs of the Kings of Chu are architectural groups that imitate palaces, with complex structures and peculiar shapes. The entire mausoleum is a symmetrical architectural layout that is now symmetrical on the north-south axis. Its internal facilities and structure are readily available, reproducing the luxurious life scenes of the Western Chu And Han kings, which also confirms the funerary concept of "seeing death as life" prevalent in the Han Dynasty.

And such a huge project was actually made by the ancients more than 2,000 years ago by relying on simple tools such as iron chisels and iron axes. This mausoleum is also the carrier of the remnants of human material and spiritual civilization, not only that, the tomb of the King of Chu is also an underground treasure trove of cultural relics.

Among them, there are red gold buckles showing the style of the king, jade ear cups that show the style of the king, jade ear cups that "the moon is like water, the sound is like a chime, and there is no cloud in the miles", as well as the walking beads of "the pearl of the moon has tears", and hundreds of bronze and iron weapons... The craftsmanship of this batch of funerary goods is truly breathtaking.

However, archaeologists were surprised by the development that this Chu king's tomb had been stolen. These tomb robbers dug holes from the east side of the patio to the northwest, all the way to the tomb entrance, and the positioning was more accurate than that of the archaeological expedition team. Fortunately, they did not find the entire burial chamber.

As a result, a large number of copper coins were unearthed in the tomb, a total of more than 176,000 pieces, and very few cultural relics were excavated from the tomb. The main reason is that the stolen tombs were the first to climb, and the large gold and silver objects have been stolen.

However, three very beautiful pieces of gold ornaments have been unearthed in the burial chamber, which are not only pure but also very exquisitely carved. But "gold is priceless", and there is a pair of jade dragons that are more valuable. Why didn't the grave robbers take it?

In this regard, archaeologists believe that because there was a saying that "a gentleman has no reason, the jade does not go to the body", and the most important thing is that the jade dragon symbolizes the royal power, even if it is stolen out, no one dares to buy it, and it is easy to attract the disaster of killing, so the tomb robbers do not dare to take it.

These cultural relics show the historical style of the Western Han Chu State and fill a large number of gaps in the archaeology of the early Han Dynasty in China, so it is called "the first of the top ten new archaeological discoveries in 1995".
